Job Summary:
This position is a dual role. As a Transportation Strategic Buyer this position is responsible for the management of critical European Transportation supplier relationships and tenders in conjunction with the Distribution Manager and Procurement Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be proficient in transportation and able to create positive relationships with all stakeholders. He/she serves as the Transportation point of contact for Kitts Green within Procurement.
As the Capital Buyer for Kitts Green this position is responsible for managing the Capital procurement projects and the operations of the Capital Buy Desk Team (CBD).
In this role, you will:
- Have direct responsibility for spend within the Capital & Transportation Category for our European location in Kitts Green – UK.
- Assist in the achievement of Procurement targets in Kitts Green for Capital & Transportation.
- Coordinate the set up and maintenance of third-party carrier profiles within ERP.
- Support the carrier aspects of all start-up and transitional transportation services operations.
- Supervise all Transportation Manager System (within and out of ERP) AP processes.
- Monitor workloads of data entry to establish and maintain consistency with respect to processing activities for each carrier.
- Lead function for monitoring and managing operations of the Capital Buy Desk (CBD) ensuring all capital purchase orders have been released in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Responsible for Kitts Green, Capital portfolio and provide Capital Procurement support to other locations as and when required.
- Partner with Operation and Engineering Leads in the development of specific sustaining and return seeking projects.
- Engage in early phases of project development to assess baselines for project/capital spend and supports development and improvement of business cases on cost side.
- Develop RFQs, issue NDAs for equipment and service packages on projects.
- Manage Freight Payment Team in championing Accounts Payable support process for internal and external stakeholders as it pertains to freight payment in Kitts Green – UK.
- Develop and execute Capital & Transportation Procurement strategies to reduce commercial expenses.
- Maintain business relationships with representatives of Strategic Transporters and Capital Suppliers for the categories.
- Perform commercial evaluation and assists with technical evaluation leading to an award recommendation considering the business need and mitigating any risk factors.
- Lead, co-lead, or support commercial sourcing activity across Capital & Transportation categories in Europe as required to meet company objectives.
- Lead, co-lead, or support non-commercial events as required to meet objectives, including, but not limited to Summit events, Kaizen workshops, Working Capital in case if it’s necessary.
- Execute contract negotiations/Terms and Conditions with Capital Suppliers & Transporters classified in these categories.
- Accountable for Performance areas: actual cost saving and cost avoidance method and Capital & Transportation network performance
- Develop and maintain a continuous improvement mindset with respect to the quality, efficiency and overall effectiveness of the freight audit and payment functions and related internal controls, resulting in increased accuracy and a decreased risk of fraud and errors and review and revise policies and procedures as necessary to accomplish such ends.
- Monitor workloads of data entry and audit tasks to establish and maintain consistency with respect to processing activities for each Capital & Transportation Suppliers.
- Assist the different teams to solve finance and requisitions queries.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, as well as the development and ongoing monitoring of metrics that track key performance indicators within Capital and the freight audit & payment functions.
- Lead settlement and accrual review meetings.
- General administrative duties as associated with the role.
- Travel might be required.
You have: (required)
- Minimum bachelors degree
- Min 3 years of experience in Strategic Procurement role.
- Professional in Microsoft Package
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the UK. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of Hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation management, Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Project management, or in similar area.
- Experience in Transport/Logistics or Supply Chain in a related industry.
- Experience in Capital Procurement, Project Management and/or Logistics or transportation environment, with a focus on transportation rates and accessorial charges.
- Experience with a TMS (Transportation Management System) will be required to understand all the impacts of any carrier resolutions in the system is a plus.
- Detail oriented with excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Advanced skills in Excel and Power BI, with ability to summarize and present large volumes of data in a concise manner.
- Proven ability to function as a Subject Matter Expert with respect to specialized systems applications.

- Working towards CIPS or proven CIPS qualification.
