Inspector 2

We are seeking an Inspector to join our team at our Culpeper, VA site.

Reporting directly to the Manager, Quality, this position utilizes general application of quality assurance concepts, practices and techniques. This position would be for 1st shift 7:30 am to 5:00 pm 9/80 schedule.

This opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.

Under general supervision, an Inspector 2 utilizes a general application of quality assurance concepts, practices and techniques. Responsible for strict adherence to safety and housekeeping standards. This position requires employees to enter the manufacturing areas. The hours of work will equate to those of the manufacturing areas, and overtime will be expected as directed by the department manager.

• 60 - Use calipers, micrometers and other measuring and/or specialized equipment to perform inspections on rocket motors and rocket motor components under the supervision of higher level inspectors in accordance with AS 9100/ISO 9001 elements.
• 30 - Complete paperwork such as writing IR cards, Discrepancy reports, etc.
• 10- Enter shipping data, Discrepancy reports and Oracle entries in the computer on all programs.

Requires a High School diploma with (1) one year experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience associated with the inspection of chemical processing, soldering, casting, inert/energetic operations, bonding, assembly, and/or component parts.
• Trade or Vocational School courses in reading and interpreting complex blueprints and basic math.
• Understanding of the related AS 9100/ISO 9001 elements.

Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
