As a Machinist you will set up and operate various machine tools to produce and repair aircraft parts to a high standard and tolerance. You will machining parts to various aerospace specifications.

Job Requirements:

What will I be doing?

• Cylindrical Grinding, Planetary Grinding, Vertical Boring, Horizontal Boring, Turning and Honing
• Set up and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools and precision components onto machine beds plus adjust and operate specialist machine tools in order to perform precision machining operations
• Monitoring and adjusting feed and speeds during the machining process to ensure efficiency of both the machine and speed of process
• Use of a wide and varied range of precision measuring equipment
• Reading component maintenance manuals, complex drawings and engineering layout information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to complete repairs of parts within specified dimensions and tolerances
• Diagnosing machine or tool malfunctions and determine need for adjustment or repairs
• Involvement in continuous improvement activities to reduce shop processing times and manufacturing hours

In this role, you will be working shifts consisting of earlies, lates and nights on a rotating basis.

What do I need to succeed in the role?

• An Engineering Apprenticeship ideally gained in the aerospace or manufacturing sector
• Excellent communication and team working skills
• Good computer and mathematical ability
• Self-managing, reliant and flexible
• Good problem solving skills
• You must be willing to train and take on board new skills
• An understanding of Lean Sigma disciplines and 5s principles
