Morson Talent are currently recruiting for a Material Supply Officer to work on the behalf of one of our reputable Aerospace clients based in Yeovil, Somerset. This is an ongoing contract role.

JOB PURPOSE
Work as part of a team to manage a supply chain which consistently and accurately meets future requirements in terms of business need ensuring the timely supply of parts, equipment and services to the required quality standard and in the most economic manner in accordance with defined programme requirements, the customer’s requirements and the relevant company policies.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:
Manage Contract Performance
You will drive and direct critical activities with your defined suppliers to ensure you can deliver the right product to the customer at the right time. Liaise with internal customers, suppliers and other departments to advise on progress of activities with a view to minimising lead times and achieving on-time delivery. Establish regular reviews to monitor, identify, report and mitigate risk, escalating issues as required to ensure that contract conditions are complied with. You may be required to agree targeted and actual levels of performance with suppliers. Regularly monitor progress against plans and involve specialists as required. Provide regular opportunities for discussion and feedback on performance levels achieved. Ensure and maintain accuracy of data used to support operational planning across the business. You will use your knowledge and technical expertise to co-ordinate and position products and services to meet specified programme requirements. You will understand the contribution that your own activities make to the departments’ goals and business capability. Review and improve your own activities and support initiatives to continuously improve departmental processes, products and services.

Customer Service
You will ensure product and service delivery requirements are agreed with relevant customer(s) and that their expectations and requirements are clearly articulated and understood by all involved. To ensure the timely delivery of those products and services, you are to consult and liaise with appropriate stakeholders in order to identify and resolve any issues that may impact on service delivery. Provide adequate and timely advice to any member of the organisation who requests or requires it. You will provide adequate and timely notice to your line manager when circumstances indicate that expectations/requirements may not be met.

Process Administration
Ensure that all policies, processes and procedures that you use in your work are effective and documented appropriately. Make suggestions to line management with a view to improving these processes to enhance the efficiency of the service provided by the department. Where relevant, conduct regular reviews to ensure that they remain effective and applicable, meet appropriate legal, contractual and regulatory requirements and are compliant with the Company Operating System.

Personal Management/Team Working
Ensure any tasks or activities undertaken by yourself or with a team are discharged effectively and with regard to safe working practices. Seek opportunities with the framework of your working environment to develop your knowledge and skills to undertake additional tasks and activities as appropriate. Undertake broader development through appropriate developmental activities, sponsored by your line manager. Provide advice and support to others working within your team (which may be cross-functional), keep abreast of developments within your area of expertise and share this knowledge and experience with colleagues. Ensure any issues that affect your ability to discharge your tasks and projects are identified and referred to your line manager in a timely and appropriate manner.

Resource Control
Ensure resources available for carrying out your duties are used effectively and efficiently. This will involve minimising waste or duplication and maximising the potential for making savings where this would not adversely affect the level of service provided by the department. Report any potential shortfalls to your line manager. Apply appropriate controls to monitor and report on the use of resources.

Information
You will ensure information and resources amassed as a consequence of activities that you undertake and needed for future requirements are collected, stored and easily accessible to authorised personnel. If requested, produce accurate reports that meet the specification of the authorised person requesting the data.

Role
Ensure documentation gathered and produced is understood and where applicable signed, validated and communicated in accordance with current regulations and requirements. Ensure relevant information flows effectively and is made available to the team, your line manager, customers and stakeholders. Use the information available to you to identify areas of operations where improvements might be achieved. Ensure any agreed supplier concessions submitted have the appropriate business case documentation.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• The job holder will have previous experience within a material supply, procurement/commercial or manufacturing environment. Will have experience of working across/within functional teams and have experience in managing suppliers to achieve high levels of business satisfaction and confidence in their ability to meet business requirements.
• Will be required to work within a rapidly changing environment, and will need to have the ability to balance a significant number of variables before reaching an informed decision on supply issues.
• Possess influencing skills, and negotiation skills to ensure delivery of outputs and product in or from areas where you have no direct authority.
• The job holder should possess good communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to influence internally and externally and solve problems using own initiative or on occasion by seeking assistance.
• Advance team working skills and capable of co-ordinately some multi-functional team activity.
• Capable of operation at senior levels within both company and supplier organisations.
• Ability to work using own initiative, without assistance.
• Will possess a knowledge of materials and inventory management to understand the flow of materials and to understand the effects your actions have on customer requirements.
• A sound understanding of the structure of the company purchase orders, terms and conditions of supply and general supplier contractual requirements.
• Possess effective supplier management tools and techniques and project management skills.
• Computer literate in company standard include SAP and Business Warehouse.
• A working knowledge of the supply drawings, DDP’s, FAIR’s, Concessions.
• An understanding of Repair and Overhaul, IMOS, SKIOS and BTIA requirements.
• An understanding of the company’s shipping arrangements including incoterms, export licences, end user statements and ITAR’s.
• A working knowledge of the Company Operating System.
• Able and willing to travel alone or as part of a team within the UK and overseas, valid passport and driving licence is required
• Organisational awareness of company functional areas and purpose.
• Either proven ability to perform effectively in an equal or more advanced procurement/commercial position and/or ONC/HNC Business studies (or equivalent) and or MCIPS Corporate qualification.

DIMENSIONS:

• The role will require self-management of a range of key activities with identified performance levels which impact the company’s supply chain quality, cost and schedule adherence.
• Will be required to work and support within a team environment but not having team supervision responsibility.
• A participative/co-ordinating role across multi-functional teams may also be required.
• May manage several suppliers which have a degree of stability but could be of high value and some of whom may be international.
• Be prepared to attend courses for personal development or business need away from site if necessary.
• Receive mandatory and continuation training as directed.
• Carry out any other tasks within their capability and experience in support of the contract.

Hours – 37 hours per week, 5 days
Overtime – In usual circumstances, there is opportunity to work overtime per week (up to 10 pre authorised)
The successful candidate will need to be able to travel independently around Europe, mainly Italy. They also need to be willing and able to drive abroad.
