At Western Jet Aviation, a company of StandardAero youll work with the latest technologies and techniques in the aviation industry to oversee on hand inventory, issue materials to technicians, source materials, and coordinate material logistics. You’ll ensure we have what we need to service our customers.

As a Materials Specialist, you’ll be responsible for purchasing a variety of equipment, supplies and services utilizing computerized systems.

What you’ll do:

  • Receive in shipments and verify shipments match PO requirements.
  • Oversee the inventory of parts.
  • Package materials to be shipped, creates AWB, schedules shipments through approved freight vendors.
  • Keep track of all transaction receipts and purchase orders. 
  • Scan receiving paperwork, certs, packing slips, etc.
  • Use the ERP inventory control system (Oracle) to record receipt, transfer, and reductions of parts and rotables. 
  • Release orders from ERP system to the technicians.
  • Work with techs to physically inspect parts and answer any questions on status of parts expected to be delivered / received.
  • Respond to buyers requesting corrected paperwork and other quality issues when receiving materials.
  • Oversee material with expiration dates.  Disposes of materials past their shelf-life correctly.
  • Write routine correspondence via email with internal & external customers.
  • Assist and tracks the shop tool calibration program.
  • Conduct cycle counts and inspection of parts.
  • Support technicians to distribute parts once received or from stock.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • On occasion, drive company vehicles to pick-up and deliver aircraft parts, documents, letters, packages, and other items in a safe, efficient, timely and legal manner. 
  • General administration duties and data entry.
  • Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets which includes both consumables and expendables.
  • Obtain, review, and validate quotes for requested parts and services.
  • Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on supply related issues.
  • Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.
  • Prepare and raise purchase orders.
  • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
  • Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a parts/materials environment. Aviation experience preferred.
  • Intermediate to Advanced skill with Outlook and MS Excel.
  • Oracle or SAP experience.
  • MRO / Aircraft industry experience preferred.
  • Clean Driving Record.
  • Previous experience with Inventory Control / Parts Clerk.
  • Excellent customer services skills when dealing with staff, clients, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills; high level of attention to detail; outstanding organizational skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent.
  • Basic data entry skills required. Ability to handle multiple duties/priorities daily; ability to function effectively under deadlines and still maintain accuracy; able to keep up in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to read write, speak fluently, and understand the English language.  Knowledge of the Spanish language is a plus.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with team members; self-motivated; ‘Can Do’ attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to read and follow directions.
  • Able to complete assigned tasks, including follow-up assignments, in a timely manner.
  • Follow directions yet applies judgment and can be flexible.
  • Team member yet knows when to work independently.
  • Oracle experience is a bonus.
  • An understanding of aerospace processes and components would be advantageous
  • Able to manage time effectively, prioritizes tasks and achieve set targets.
  • Able to work well under pressure and handle emergency and stressful situations.
  • Typical work is conducted inside a hangar; some work may be in the Aircraft Hangar. There may be some exposure to excessive heat, fumes, chemicals, and loud noise. 
  • Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse and be seated for long periods of time.
  • Must possess mobility to work in Aircraft Hangar setting.
  • Viable and reliable transportation to and from work is required. 
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and perform essential duties.
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
  • Substantial periods of physical activity, including but not limited to:
    • Lifting / Carrying: 10-50lbs often and over 100lbs intermittently
    • Pushing / Pulling: 50lbs often and over 100bs at intermittently
    • Driving: An essential function of the position; Will drive as needed
    • Twisting / Turning: Reaching over shoulder, overhead, outward, climbing, crawling, kneeling, squatting, sitting, walking on uneven or slippery surfaces
    • Substantial periods of standing.
