Pay Rate: $61.33 to $68.50 per hour
About the Role:Ready to take your machining skills to new heights? PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Milling Machine Machinist to join our dynamic aerospace team in Palmdale, CA. In this critical role, you’ll operate and set up milling machines to perform intricate machining operations that ensure the precision and reliability of cutting-edge aerospace components.
As a key member of our team, your expertise in complex machining operations will have a direct impact on the development and production of advanced aerospace systems. You’ll work with state-of-the-art machinery, transforming blueprints and specifications into high-quality parts that meet the stringent requirements of the aerospace industry.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:Machining Operations: Set up and operate plain or universal milling machines (horizontal or vertical) to perform operations such as compound angles, helical milling, gear cutting, and more.
Tooling & Setup: Select, mount, and align specialized machine attachments and tooling. Plan the sequence of operations, number of cuts, and methods for setup.
Precision Work: Adjust speeds, feeds, and depths of cut to achieve exacting tolerances while interpreting blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
Inspection & Quality Control: Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.) to ensure parts meet required specifications and tolerances. Monitor quality using statistical process control.
Independent Operation: Perform machining tasks with limited guidance, ensuring efficiency and maintaining high standards of quality.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of work performed, including setup procedures and inspection results, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal processes.
Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED
5+ years of experience in machining within the manufacturing industry
Proficient in the use of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments
Strong understanding of blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications
Ability to set up machines and determine the sequence of operations independently
Skilled in quality control procedures and ensuring the precision of components
Preferred Qualifications:6+ years of experience in machining within the manufacturing industry
Machine Tool Technology Certificate (from an educational institute or military)
Experience with 3-4 axis machining programming using Master CAM
Familiarity with CNC machinery setup and machining
Previous experience with lathes, mills, grinders, drills, and other machinery
Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings (GD&T) and schematics
Strong written and oral communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
