Job Summary


Join our Danbury, CT team as a Senior Buyer responsible for purchasing commodities and major subcontract items. This position is hybrid and the person selected must be within commutable distance of the office and able to work in the office at least 2 days per week.


What You Will Do



  • Generate and execute CPSR-compliant purchase orders, based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids and other similar and necessary documents

  • Be the point of contact (POC) between DRS and the supplier; communicate supplier performance including supplier visits as required

  • Facilitate and manage supplier issues (i.e. cost, quality, delivery, accounts payable, customer service)

  • Initiate and follow through on supplier changes (Engineering Change Notices)

  • Lead negotiations and apply knowledge of commercial contract law and guidelines, practices and requirements to assess, plan and negotiate best terms and conditions and to minimize risk

  • Track and report cost savings or avoidances

  • Maintain current accurate records and files of all vendor agreements and related procurement records


What You Will Bring to the Table



  • A bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and at least 5 years of related purchasing experience

  • An understanding of military specifications and an ability to read blueprints

  • An understanding that we must adhere to all laws pertaining to procurement, contracts, breach of contract, etc.

  • A working knowledge of price and cost analysis as well as strong negotiating skills

  • Candidates must be US citizens (no dual citizenship) and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
