This summary provides a listing of the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are critical components of the position of Materials and Fleet Services Specialist.


General


This is a full-time position that will report to the Manager of Materials and Logistics. The Materials & Fleet Services Specialist is responsible for the routine purchasing of materials and the repair of rotatable components for Eastern Airlines. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing purchase requisitions, soliciting quotations, and placing orders for procurement of goods and services up to authorized levels. The individual will be asked to analyze purchases of goods and services for opportunities to leverage spend, maximize inventory efficiencies, lower the total cost of acquisition, and ensure accurate recording of all inventory-related information. The position interacts with the Director of Quality, the company’s Flight Mechanics, other Quality auditors, the Director of Maintenance, and the Vice President of Maintenance and Engineering. The successful candidate will have a high level of integrity and exhibit the values and culture of the company while working with the maintenance team and other company team members in a fast-paced/dynamic environment.


Duties and Responsibilities


• Coordination with MCI vendors of aircraft fueling, cleaning, ramp services, and aircraft deicing services and timing.

• Perform ramp service duties involving BTW aircraft handling.

• Operate aircraft GSE equipment.

• Receive catering orders and place them on aircraft as directed by the Eastern Airlines Airport OPS department.

• Facilitate crew meal deliveries from local caterers.

• Aircraft receipt and dispatch duties as needed.

• Work with the Eastern Airlines Airport Operations Team.

• Assist and perform other job responsibilities as directed by Director, Airport Ops, and Charter Services.

• Shared on-call weekends, off hours, and holidays.

• Reviews purchase requisitions for completeness and initiates action on requirements.

• Returns requisitions to users that require additional information or budget approval.

• Identifies requisitions that can be placed directly on LTAs or other existing contract agreements.

• Monitors requisitions to identify commonly purchased items that would be candidates for volume agreements, LTAs, MOUs, or Price Agreements and makes recommendations to the Sr. Manager, Material Control and Supply Chain.

• Prepares and obtains quotations from qualified suppliers.

• Review bids, negotiate more favorable prices and terms, and select suppliers.

• Minimizes purchase order discrepancies through coordination with accounting and receiving departments to resolve invoice discrepancies, and shipping errors, and ensure accurate recording of parts inventory information.

• Reduces process cycle times through prompt action on requisitions and purchase order follow-up through delivery.

• Responsible for the planning, acquisition, and administration, at optimum balance of cost, quality, and supplier service of material required to support aircraft maintenance.

• Responsible for management of AOG critical material support functions.

• Supervises all Loans and Borrows including but not limited, loan returns, invoicing accuracy, and returning borrowed parts in a timely matter, coordinates with MCC for removal of borrowed parts, and produces reports on all loans, sales, and rental orders.

• Responsible for ensuring that purchased and repaired items are airworthy and have required certification documentation.

• Institutes systems and procedures for purchasing control and rotable repair administration.

• Directs disposition of all unserviceable inventory for repair or production hold.

• Evaluate suppliers through objective performance measurements.

• Directs, monitors, and reports on procurement projects.

• Ensures that items are prepared for shipping in a proper manner to protect against damage.

• Ensures adherence to approved vendor listing.

• Coordinates the addition of new vendors with the Manager, Quality Assurance/Quality Control.

• Performs additional duties as assigned by the Manager, Material Control & Logistics, Director of Technical Services, or Vice President, Maintenance and Engineering.


Qualifications


• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related discipline is preferred.

• Minimum 2-3 years in aviation purchasing/supply chain is required.

• Minimum 2-3 years of Procurement/Procurement Planning/Material Control experience within the airline industry is required.

• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills are required.

• Ability to develop supplier relationships.

• Able to accept and maintain company and professional ethical policies and standards.

• Basic understanding of negotiation principles.

• Demonstrates excellent management, communication skills, professionalism, and positive customer service attitude without compromising quality.

• Familiarity with accessing online aircraft manuals.

• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite and the Internet.

• Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.

• Familiarity with AMOS or other similar maintenance systems preferred.

• Some travel may be required.

• Pass a two (2) year drug and alcohol background check, pre-employment drug test, and criminal history records check (CHRC).

• Eligible to work in the United States.
