Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Material Planning Supervisor, the Associate Tactical Material Planner/Buyer is responsible for analysis, organization and the execution of requisitions for material requirements and transfers of assigned commodities in order to maintain adequate inventory levels and to support the World Wide distribution network. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing, coordinating, and administrating any long-term planning and forecasting of inventory requirements and will be proficient with the use of all applications associated with the authorized tools that are required to execute the plan.
Principal Duties:
Under the guidelines of established policies and procedures, the Associate Tactical Material Planner/Buyer is responsible for determining inventory levels required to support new parts sales, overhaul, repair and rental business, as assigned. Responsibilities include the daily analysis, monitoring and execution of the plan for material availability that supports and is in line with established service levels.
The daily planning activities include but are not limited to the following:
• Initial input and maintenance of the computerized Part Master Database. Extensive coordination with other internal entities is required to maintain accurate information.
• Audit and maintain planning information and associated part attributes information to ensure correct forecast and plan
• Maintain/manage supplier unit cost, discount, lead-time and other pertinent information to ensure purchase order accuracy
• Assist in the resolution of purchase order discrepancies.
• Perform the necessary administrative tasks to support expediting receipt of material as scheduled
• Monitor vendor price changes and provide this information to the appropriate pricing administrator.
• Work from the forecasting and planning computer generated alerts to analyze material requirements necessary to support the worldwide distribution network, prepare purchase requisitions, plan stock allocations, monitor supplier deliveries and make inventory decisions for current and future requirements.
• Review Flight Cancellations and Top20 Removals to determine if correct part(s), & required attaching part(s), are in the correct locations throughout the network.
• Review excess inventory reports to determine and identify items eligible for scrapping or modification.
• Review Material Action Documents to propose disposition and assist in the execution
• Recommend improvements to existing procedures in response to organizational changes or enhanced technology.
Other duties may be assigned by management in order to meet department or business objectives on an as-needed basis.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
College degree or an equivalent. Combination of education and experience adequate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Three years material planning experience with a minimum of ½ those years in an aviation-related industry using an automated inventory management system (i.e. MRP, SAP, MCA or DRP).
Two years experience in Materials operations
Working knowledge of the latest material management methodology
Familiar with the use of the industry standard Illustrated Parts Catalog and ATA Technical Manual.
Understanding of FAA regulations with regards to parts procurement documentation and traceability.
Intermediate-level proficiency in the use of PC Windowss business software (Microsoft Office preferred).
Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers in a professional manner.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years Purchasing experience with new and rotable parts.
APICS certification or CPIM
Intermediate- level with databases and queries (SAP, Qlik Sense, Excel)
