As a Waste Water Technician I, you will take part in:
- Understanding the importance of immediately reporting safety concerns.
- Continuous Improvement Projects to improve the site’s Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
- Periodic Trainings for RCRA (Resource Conservation, and Recovery Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) in order to comply with the regulatory requirements for the management and shipments of hazardous waste.
What you’ll do:
- Operate and monitor control systems and related equipment to regulate the treatment and distribution of waste water and thus produces treated water that complies with regulations.
- Collect water samples for chemical testing. Treats water with appropriate chemicals.
- Batch Treatment of solutions through precipitation/neutralization principles via A Semi-Automated Batch Treatment System
- Read flow meters, gauges and other recording instruments to measure water output and waste content levels.
- Analyze test results and instrument readings and makes adjustments to equipment and systems as required.
- Monitor and inspects equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctions and to ensure systems and equipment are operating normally.
- Respond to spills, waste water treatment alarms and abnormalities and initiates corrective action.
- Complete and maintains appropriate records, logs and reports. Ensures applicable related legal requirements are met.
- Perform maintenance of equipment, including cleaning probes and filters.
- Maintain inventory of chemicals and empty drums.
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
- Responsible for the Handling and Management of hazardous waste (labeling, storage compatibility, weekly waste inspections, and waste shipments as applicable.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
What Skills you will use:
- Working knowledge of waste water treatment, management of hazardous waste and control procedures.
- Strong aptitude for chemistry.
- Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes and SDS labels.
- Completion of a college program in water and waste water or a closely related discipline; or equivalent.
