21210 TOOLS AND PARTS ATTENDANT This incumbent receives, stores, and issues hand tools, machine tools, dies, replacement parts, shop supplies and equipment, such as measuring devices, in an industrial establishment. The Tools and Parts Attendant does the following keeps records of tools issued to and returned by workers, searches for lost or misplaced tools, prepares periodic inventory or keeps perpetual inventory and requisitions stock as needed, unpacks and stores new equipment; visually inspects tools or measures with micrometer for wear or defects and reports damaged or wornout equipment to superiors; may coat tools with grease or other preservative, using a brush or spray gun, and may attach identification tags or engrave identifying information on tools and equipment using electric spaning tool.

Task Requirements:

  • Performs duties as Tool and Parts Attendant in support of Customs Border Protection (CBP) P-3 aircraft maintenance.
  • May perform Lead duties as assigned.
  • Performs duties in support of Organizational O Level Maintenance
  • Corrosion Control
  • Troubleshooting
  • Preservation and de-preservation
  • Responsible for tool issue/receipt supporting aircraft maintenance shops including hazardous materials, tool room/box/pouch configuration
  • Individual Material Readiness List (IMRL),
  • Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) Program Management providing a primary point of contact for Metrology and Calibration issues,

    and solutions and coordinate the METCAL program to include:

    • A working knowledge of international regulation and policy for military and civil aviation as well as International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
    • Provide advice on the management, operation, and development of the METCAL Program to ensure it is a quality-managed, customer-focused, and continually improving program that supports Test, Measurement, and diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) such that the TMDE is available when required and (is accurate, reliable and traceable to System International units(SI International System of Units) when used.
    • Ensure that the METCAL, Program conforms to the requirements of such international standards as,

      but not necessarily limited to:

      ISO 9001, 9004, 17025, and ANSI/NCSL 2540
  • Use provided safety equipment when working with hazardous materials.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of your assigned work area.
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.
  • Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment.
  • May be required to perform simple computer input functions.
  • Assist when directed to ensure the safety, security, and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the Naval Aviation maintenance environment performing tools and parts attendant responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years’ additional education and/or related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 plus years of experience with aircraft tool room and tool control procedures.
  • Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) Program Training
  • Hazardous Waste Communications Training,
  • FOD and TCP Awareness Training
  • ISO 9001-2000 Program Awareness
  • Must possess a valid state drivers license.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on-call status 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Ability to obtain CBP Secret clearance

Compensation

$21.95/hour

Other Compensation

Employees that waive medical insurance, receive an opt-out payment of $2.00 per hour paid to a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Employees are offered medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in KAI’s 401k plan. Employees accrue 3.07 hours of vacation and 2.15 hours of personal paid time per pay period. KAI union employees working at CBP have 11 paid holidays.

Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
