Tasks
The key responsibilities and duties of the Trainee Machinist include, but are not limited to:
- Operate a Variety of Machines to perform assigned tasks, you will produce or repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment (CNC) and accurate measuring instruments
- Read and Review paperwork, drawings and Instructions to understand specifications of output
- Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
- Take accurate measurements using micrometres, Vernier callipers, height gauges etc.
- Set up, operate and maintain machine tools
- Monitor machine while working to adjust the speeds and feeds and make set up changes if necessary
- Perform routine machine coolant checks, maintenance and tooling checks
- Operate overhead Crane
Requirements
The ideal Trainee Machinist should meet the following requirements:
- Minimum GCSE level or equivalent
- Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English
- Qualification in an engineering subject would be desirable
- Illustrate previous knowledge and experience in Machine Shop/ Engineering Facility
- Good awareness and understanding of PPE
- Previous experience with CNC or manual Machine Tools desirable, but not essential
- Able to use their own initiative
- Good communicato r- ability to communicate with staff on business, and other issues that affect the business
- Monday to Friday (Double day 06:30-14:30 / 14:30-22:30)
- Occasional loud noises from machinery and other production department activity
- Must be willing to work shifts
