Flightstar is currently seeking a Ground Support Equipment Technician to support our maintenance operations on 1st shift. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting airport /MRO operations and familiarization with maintenance procedures on the following equipment: Aircraft Tow Tractors, Generators, Forklifts, Cranes, High Reach Machines, Company Vehicles, Golf Carts, Aircraft Electrical and Hydraulic Power Units and Hydraulic Aircraft Jacks.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs daily aviation ground support equipment pre-operational inspections, ensures all equipment is fueled ready for use before the beginning of each shift.
  • Performs major repairs and overhaul of aviation ground support equipment, including aircraft tow tractors, electrical and hydraulic power units, company vehicles trucks, vans, golf carts and other industrial power equipment and industrial power tools throughout the facility.
  • Performs preventative and non-routine maintenance inspections, including cleaning, general servicing (oil, gas, tires) and other minor maintenance tasks on ground equipment vehicles, including company vehicles, leased power industrial equipment, and aircraft tow tractors.
  • Performs repairs and periodic maintenance of aircraft auxiliary air power units (APUs/Airstarts).
  • Troubleshoots and repairs various electrical and mechanical discrepancies with ground equipment independently.
  • Performs general maintenance and repairs of various types of work stands, must be able to cut and weld steel. Knowledgeable of MIG, Stick and Oxy/Acetylene welding types.
  • Drives forklifts, trucks, vans, tow tractors or other vehicles.
  • Prepares and maintains records of ground support equipment repairs, and maintains vehicle-specific logs and records.
  • Using hand tools and necessary equipment, performs skilled mechanical work as necessary or instructed.
  • Lifts and carries hand tools, parts, and work materials; ascends and descends ladders and platforms; and frequently works in a variety of positions such as stooping, kneeling or squatting.
  • Follows safety procedures and wears and utilizes appropriate safety equipment for the work being performed.
  • Reads instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.
  • Communicates effectively in English regarding work activities, per FAA requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Written and spoken English fluency. Spanish is a plus.
  • Valid Florida drivers license.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, knowledge of related work techniques, equipment terminology, parts, labor, tasks and processes.
  • Able to lift and carry hand tools, parts, and work materials. Ascend and descend ladders and platforms. Frequently work in a variety of positions such as stooping, kneeling or squatting and with approved cleaning materials, cleaning equipment and cleaning solvents.
