Job Description:

The FAA-licensed A & P Mechanic performs scheduled maintenance, makes repairs, and completes inspections required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the aircraft-approved and established and/or modified maintenance procedures and processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Determine aircraft airworthiness through the inspection of structures, flight controls, avionics, engines, landing gear, instruments, pressurized sections, brakes, valves, pumps, and air-conditioning systems.
  • Disassembles and completes all necessary maintenance cleans, repairs, and reassembles aircraft components and composite surfaces in an efficient manner using proper repair techniques and guidance from the engineering group.
  • Completes all documentation (including timecards, work order packets, and turnover logs) & logbook entries in compliance with FAA and company standards.
  • Completes work orders within targeted or estimated hours on a consistent basis.
  • Obtains routine parts for assigned work orders in a timely manner to ensure jobs are completed on time and on schedule.
  • Follows through to ensure parts are received.
  • Researches, reads, and interprets maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing, replacing, or fabricating damaged components.
  • Determines correct instruments or tools required to repair aircraft components.
  • Demonstrates acceptable skill level in using precision instruments, hand tools, gauges, shop, and testing equipment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to work in a team environment.

  • FAA A&P License.
  • Minimum Fundamental Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation.
  • Random drug screens required by FAA.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of experience and training which qualifies the employee to perform the essential job duties of the position.
  • Valid FAA Airframe and Power Plant preferred.

REASONING ABILITY:

The work may include assignments that are extremely complex and difficult in character requiring the exercise of considerable judgment and ingenuity. Therefore, the ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions is necessary. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in both standardized and non-standardized situations is required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have the ability to understand the appropriate safety measures needed to reduce the risk of injury to self and other employees.
  • Ability to be neat, clean, organized, and free any hazards to workers or customers who may be touring the facilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works where temperature fluctuation occurs consistent with the outside temperature, dust particulates, and engine fumes are present in the amount expected in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, depending on the equipment involved.

In some instances, Personal Protective Equipment requirements includes the use gloves, dust mask, appropriate eye and ear protection when in the vicinity of manufacturing and aircraft. Those tasks will be specifically outlined in the safety manual.
