Job Description:
A&P Mechanics play an important role in the development and certification efforts at DeltaHawk Engines. They have a diverse role providing support for assembling, modification, and teardown of test engines and sub-assemblies as well as test setup, execution, and documentation of results and observations in an R&D environment. In addition, A&P Mechanics may provide support in one or more areas including: aircraft electrical, avionics, airframe setup, or fabrication of test infrastructure.

The A&P Mechanic role has additional responsibilities from the prior engine technician roles in the area of coordination of tasks and feedback on junior technician technical performance. The A&P Mechanic may perform some duties of the previous engine technician roles as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate or perform builds of test engines and related sub-systems
  • Review and provide feedback on workmanship of junior technicians and test operators
  • Ensure that the build process is fully documented and stored properly
  • Oversee or perform engine tear down, cleaning, and documentation of observations and data
  • Modification of components as needed to meet engineering specified test requirements
  • Setup of engines and assemblies for testing following established protocols and test requirements
  • Execute tests within established protocols and engineering specifications
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of relevant powerplant/piston engine and airframe building and troubleshooting experience
  • A&P mechanic license
  • Strong “can do” attitude accompanied with a sense of ambition and urgency
  • Works effectively with others in a team environment
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and tasks related to engine builds and R&D testing
  • Desire to work with others to train them in technical aspects of the job and industry
  • Excellent attention to detail in mechanical assembly and the inspection process during teardowns
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate technical details effectively in verbal and written form
  • Computer literacy including the ability to organize and manage test data
  • Ability to follow procedures consistent with mechanical shop and R&D test operations
  • Ability to lift, hold, and position weights up to 45 lbs at least two to four times per hour as needed
  • Ability to work in various positions necessary to service the engine or test equipment as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Inspection Authority (IA)
  • Ability to create or modify step by step assembly work instructions
  • Experience wiring aircraft and troubleshooting aircraft electrical or sensor issues
Working Conditions
Work will be conducted in typical mechanical shop and industrial test cell environments.
