Overview: 

Air Shasta Rotor and Wing Inc. is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor for Part 145 Repair Station which services both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. We are looking for an A&P mechanic who can fill a key role in coordinating the efforts of the larger maintenance team. The Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor is primarily a hands-on leader and teacher responsible for organizing and guiding the day-to-day completion of tasks by the maintenance team. This position also holds a key role in identifying deficiencies in processes and procedures, and coordinating with the management team to formulate and implement improvements. Working closely with the DOM, the Maintenance Supervisor ensures that work completed by maintenance personnel is compliant with FAA regulations, known contractual obligations, established QA procedures, and all other company policies applicable to the maintenance department. 

Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Perform hands-on maintenance tasks, and provide direction for the daily activities of other maintenance personnel within the Supervisors scope of responsibility. 
  • Selectively delegate tasks to base and field personnel as appropriate.  
  • Assist in coordinating work schedules of regular and rotational maintenance personnel 
  • Ensure adherence to FAA, and other regulatory requirements for customers (PG&E, Cal Fire, USFS, Fish and Wildlife, etc.) 
  • Assist in developing and maintaining processes and workflows to effectively and safely facilitate the completion of work  
  • Proactively coordinate with Chief Pilot to plan and schedule for periodic maintenance events based on aircraft hours, life-limited components, time since last inspection, etc. 
  • Actively participate in the training of maintenance personnel, including the development and application of training content 
  • Assist in establishing initial and maintain recurring training procedures and programs for maintenance personnel 
  • Promote compliance with Air Shasta’s Safety Management System and ensure adherence to all safety policies and procedures 
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement processes and policies that promote safe and effective operations 
  • Promote an environment that recognizes individual responsibility as a critical building block of team success 
  • Assure that the shop/hangar facilities and equipment are maintained in a clean, organized, and professional state 
  • Maintain and enforce department utilization of records and communication systems implemented by Air Shasta including: DATS, ModernHawk, EBIS, and others as determined by senior management 
  • Serve as the first point-of-contact for maintenance questions from personnel in the field 
  • Adapt to changing needs and priorities as directed by the DOM 
  • Assist in auditing and the implementation of corrective actions addressing deficiencies noted by the Safety Officer 
  • Ensure that Discrepancies are addressed and resolved in a timely manner 
  • Apply progressive discipline as needed within the department in accordance with procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and within the specific level of authority delegated by the Maintenance Manager 
  • Assist in developing QA procedures to be used within the department, and ensure consistent adherence is maintained  
  • Perform RII, pre-cowl, and other QC inspections prior to return to service 
  • Ensure adherence to the FOD control procedures established in the FOD Manual, and collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to make updates to the policies and procedures as needed 
  • Advise DOM as to when and if upgrades to tools and shop improvements may be needed 
  • Assure that replacement tools, supplies and consumables are well-stocked and available for use 
  • Approve/sign-off OJT training records for maintenance personnel 
Job Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in helicopter A&P maintenance and repair 
  • 2+ years of experience supervising others performing helicopter maintenance and repair 
  • FAA A&P Certificate 
  • Functional understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements of the Air Shasta Part 135 and Part 145 maintenance operation 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively assign work and prioritize team resources within a defined scope of responsibilities and objectives 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders through both written and verbal interactions  
  • Availability to work on-site at the main base in Redding, CA , and occasional travel to field locations.
