Job Description:

Big South Fork Jet, LLC, a part 91 private jet and turboprop management company, is seeking a certified airframe and powerplant (A&P) technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of our fleet of private jets at several locations within Eastern Tennessee. You will work closely with our pilots to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain aircraft to the highest standards of safety and performance.

Summary and Objective

The candidate will perform basic line maintenance functions including but, not limited to aircraft database updates, general servicing (tires, oxygen, engine oils, and so on) and troubleshooting AOG issues. Flexible with work schedule and living location. Service van provided. Imagine not having to show up at a hanger every morning. Leaving from your own home on your schedule and never having to pay for gas to commute. 

Essential Functions

  • Performs regular maintenance on aircraft.
  • Project Management; accurately estimates work time and materials for assigned tasks.
  • Fully analyzes all required blueprints, drawings, work orders and sketches to troubleshoot, repair, and install desired products or part.
  • Ensures proper working condition of mechanical systems before flight.
  • Maintains paperwork and regulatory compliance
  • Consults maintenance manuals and specifications to identify correct operations and specifications for replacements or repairs.
  • Installs new parts to replace or repair defective or recalled parts or to enhance the performance of the aircraft; performs these tasks efficiently and to specifications.
  • Identifies and resolves mechanical problems based on visual inspections or reports from the pilot or crew.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of aircraft parts, systems, and mechanics.
  • Solid understanding of tools and testing methods used to ensure the proper functioning of an aircraft and its parts, systems, and mechanics.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and adhere to manual instructions to resolve complex mechanical issues.
  • Detail-oriented with mechanical inclination.
  • Superior and careful workmanship.
  • Ability to perform consistently in a continuous fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform advanced inspections and repairs.
  • Ability to learn new skills and methods of repairs.
  • Sufficient oral and verbal communication skills, as needed, to discuss equipment malfunctions and complete reports.
  • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States, and must provide two forms of Federal Identification.

Competencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software used to complete and maintain records.
  • Experience with Quantum Invoicing Software a plus.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, employees are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and loud noise levels both inside and outside the hangar.
  • Possible exposure to a variety of extreme weather conditions.
  • Exposure to loud noises including airplane machinery and jet engines.

Travel Required

  • This is an mobile position.
  • Minimal overnight missions (Home 90% of work days)
  • Must be able to be insured (driving record)
  • Living location is flexible.
  • The primary mission will be supporting aircraft based at multiple airports within 1.5 hours of KTYS (Knoxville).
  • Schedule flexibility.
  • Service vehicle provided.
  • Primary area of operations will be East Tennessee 

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Airframe and Powerplant certification 
  • Light Jet and Turbo Prop experience preferred

Salary Range: $62,000-$72,000
