Develop the certification strategy for new aircraft, leads the internal activities for aircraft certification, and interfaces with the regulatory authorities.
The Flight Operations department performs test flight, corporate flight operations, aircraft maintenance and certification for Aurora’s manned, unmanned, and optionally piloted aircraft.
We are seeking a dynamic and capable Certification Specialist who has experience in developing new product certification strategy. This position will serve a vital function in defining and implementing approaches for certifying industry-changing systems using the combination of Auroras innovation and agility with the great strength of Boeings decades of history certifying passenger aircraft.
A successful candidate must have experience with Part 23 and/or Part 25 aircraft certification projects, from defining certification basis to program execution. Must be well versed in the aviation rulemaking process, regulatory affairs, and standards development. Must have experience leading cross-functional teams, be organized and disciplined, and have strong interpersonal communication skills.
The certification specialist will:
Support the identification of the design standards applicable to new technology products, conventional a/c, and identify means of compliance to these standards.
Work with engineers, and Regulatory Agencies, throughout the phases of certification
Prepare for and attend certification and technical reviews, witness certification tests, in USA and abroad
Coordinate with all areas of expertise involved in the certification of aeronautical products
Support the development of ODA procedures, audits, and unit members
Develop of procedures to support certification and validation requirements
Interact with foreign certification authorities.
Participate in industry standard committees
Prepare validation packages and coordinate with other authorities
10+ years of professional experience designing, building, and/or operating Small UAS
Candidates must be a U.S. Person: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident/Green Card Holder.
Bachelors degree and a minimum of 10 years of related experience, including progressively responsible experience in certification of innovative aviation systems.
Engineering or science degree preferred.
Direct experience working with FAA certification authorities is essential.
Experience with an initial type certification in accordance with 14 CFR Subchapter C is strongly desired.
Experience with the application of industry standards such as RTCA and ASTM in aircraft certification.
Experience in coordinating ARP 4754A activities in aircraft design, manufacturing and certification.
Cognizant of ongoing rulemaking efforts and standards development in the US: principally Regulatory affairs and rulemaking including Part 23 ARC, ASTM F44, and GAMA.
Strong customer-service sensibility and orientation.
Demonstrated ability to conceive of and then execute a coordinated plan utilizing individuals from multiple organizations.
Strong inter-personal skills; a team player.
Disciplined and well-organized with proven leadership skills.
Excellent communicator with strong oral, written and presentation skills.
