Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Aircraft Low Observable Mechanic 2/3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This position will be located in Edwards AFB, CA.
The selected candidate will be assigned as a general mechanic specializing in Low Observables (LO). This position is 100 on-site at Edwards AFB, CA.
**This role may be filled at Mechanic Level 2 or Mechanic Level 3**
The primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee all aspects of aircraft LO outer mold line structures, materials, and applications.
- Mix and apply paints and coatings to proper spraying consistency
- Maintain high accuracy in the documentation and reporting of surface preparation, coating applications, and testing
- Maintain and update aircraft records
- Interpret and use various test equipment and works from wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals
- Obtain special certifications (example: confined space, borescope, etc.) as locally required
- Assist with on-the-job (OJT) training for team members and partner aircraft maintenance personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Aircraft Maintenance Manager
The selected Candidate must be willing to work various shifts depending on the business needs, including, but not limited to: 4x10 schedule (Mon-Thurs) 1st shift; 4x10 (Mon-Thurs) 2nd shift; 3x10 schedule (Fri, Sa, Su) 2nd shift; 3x10 schedule (Fri, Sa, Su) 1st shift.
Basic Qualifications for Low Observable Mechanic 2:
- High School diploma or equivalent AND a minimum of 2 years of aircraft Low Observables experience including application and repair of low observable coatings and composite or metallic structures
Basic Qualifications for Low Observable Mechanic 3:
- High School diploma or equivalent AND a minimum of 4 years of aircraft Low Observables experience including application and repair of low observable coatings and composite or metallic structures
Basic Qualifications for Low Observable Mechanic 2 and Low Observable Mechanic 3:
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Ability to work any shift as directed by the Aircraft Maintenance Manager
Preferred Qualifications:
- Aircraft modifications and maintenance experience
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical data. Able to interpret/translate instructions to mechanics/technicians
- Executing sanding, stripping, testing, masking and other preparation tasks
- Experience with Safety, Tool Control, FOD, Supply, HAZMAT, Training, Quality, and Security Programs
Salary Range: $54,400 - $90,600
Salary Range 2: $64,600 - $107,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
