Job Description:

The Orange County Sheriff Aviation is seeking an experienced Aircraft Mechanic to join our team. As an Aircraft Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our fleet, which includes one Bell 206L4, three Bell 407 helicopters, and one Cessna T206H aircraft. This is a Monday through Friday position with limited overtime required. Experience with helicopters, particularly the Bell 407, is highly desirable. The successful candidate will also assist the avionics technician as required. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications on the assigned aircraft fleet. 
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on airframes, engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and avionics. 
  • Complete all maintenance tasks in accordance with applicable regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and department policies. 
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment. 
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and aircraft status. 
  • Collaborate with the avionics technician to troubleshoot and resolve avionics-related issues. 
  • Stay updated on advancements in aircraft technology and participate in training programs as required. 
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the maintenance hangar and work area. 
  • Adhere to all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and safety standards.
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate is required. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an aircraft mechanic, preferably with experience on helicopters. 
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, including airframes, engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and avionics. 
  • Experience with Bell 206L4, Bell 407, and Cessna T206H aircraft is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using basic hand tools and specialized aircraft maintenance tools. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams. 
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
