Position Summary

Tactical Air is currently seeking an Aircraft Mechanic who can perform organizational, intermediate, and limited depot-level maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification, and troubleshooting on all assigned aircraft, components, and equipment. This position will apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other teammates as needed. The position classification and level of responsibility will be determined by background, education, experience, and seniority.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on assigned T/M/S aircraft including repair of airframe components, hydraulic components, and preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance discrepancies.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft including cleaning of screens and filters, grease moving parts, and check brakes.
  • Supervise jacking of aircraft.
  • Service airframe components at line station, making repairs required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
  • Apply specialization to work, repair, and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies.
  • Ability to cross-train into other specialties.
  • Document all work performed in maintenance records and verify all work is performed satisfactorily.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; FAA-approved aviation technical school.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of relevant work experience in aircraft maintenance occupational field, preferably in the military or with a government aviation maintenance contractor.
  • Experience with high performance military aircraft: (F-5/T-38) preferred.
  • Familiarity with operational capabilities and limitations of aircraft systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Basic computer skills with ability to utilize various software and applications (Microsoft Office 365/GCC (preferred) for creating documents and reports, spreadsheets, presentations, publications; web-based applications for organizing work, communications, or data entry; virtual office/cloud-based file sharing.
  • Knowledge of proper use of government classified networks, telephone, and email practices and etiquette.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance.

Desired Experience/Skills

  • A&P Certification, or ability to obtain certification, preferred.
  • Familiarity or experience with U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) federal contractors and the aerospace, defense, or commercial aviation industry preferred.
  • Be able to perform aircraft flight control rigs.
  • Able to read and understand Aircraft manuals/ TECH data.
  • Support Equipment Operator License (Tow Tractor, N2 Servicing Trailer, and Mobile Start Unit at a minimum).

Physical Demands

  • Occasional be able to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance, if required).
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms.
  • Regularly ascend/descend stairs and/or ladders.

Work Authorization and Environment

  • Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States and complete a U.S. government I-9 Form.
  • Tactical Air Support is a Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace. Pre-employment, random, or for cause drug/alcohol testing (including for marijuana) is required.
  • Pre-employment and ongoing physical certifications are required.
  • Occasional aircraft hangar or warehouse environment with exposure to loud noises, fumes from engines and chemicals, unpredictable climate (hot/cold), and electrical shock, or trip or slip hazards.
  • May be exposed to or required to handle hazardous materials.
  • Specific work hours determined by operational, departmental, or contractual requirements.
  • Occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and overtime work may be required.
  • Occasional travel to various work sites throughout the U.S. may be required.
