We are seeking experienced General Mechanics to support our program in San Antonio, TX. This role involves performing on-aircraft general maintenance, modifications, and servicing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with various aircraft systems and structures, and be capable of working in a dynamic environment with variable shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure and systems in accordance with standard repair processes.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform modifications and repairs.
• Utilize tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modification and repair of structural parts.
• Handle unique aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, and cable tensiometers.
• Perform installation, removal, and rigging of flight controls, landing gear, and other aircraft components.
• Execute essential component change-outs such as servo pumps, filters, and engine components.
• Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate online parts and discrepancy requests.
• Prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
• Ensure all equipment is used in accordance with established safety and operating procedures.
• Diagnose and correct malfunctions occurring in assembly processes.
• Use precision measuring instruments to check dimensions and ensure quality compliance.
• Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required.
• Work various shifts and alternate schedules, including weekends and holidays, as needed to support mission requirements.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled overtime as required.

• 4+ years of on-aircraft general maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated experience with Depot Level/Heavy General maintenance.
• Experience working with aircraft systems such as hydraulic, flight control, monuments, landing gears, fuel systems, and engines.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and retrofit requirements.
• Proficiency with aircraft unique tools and test equipment.
• Experience with computer systems for aircraft data access.
• Ability to prioritize workload and maintain schedules.
• Knowledgeable in shop mathematics and practices.
• Experience with schematics, specifications, and assembly drawings.
• Proficient in basic office software.
• Must be able to obtain customer approval for aircraft access.
• Ability to work various shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays.

• FAA A&P License or Military Technical School equivalent.
• Experience performing aircraft engine runs and engine borescope inspections.
• Experience operating forklifts, mobile cranes, and electric powered elevating equipment.
• Ability to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.
• Exposure to noise and working on elevated platforms.
• Use of personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hands, and arms as required.
• Pass visual acuity and color perception tests.
• Ability to handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials.
• Maintain necessary training certifications.

Work Environment

The work environment involves exposure to noise, elevated platforms, and the use of personal protective equipment. The role may require frequent walking, standing, balancing on ladders, and occasional lifting of weights greater than 50 pounds with assistance. Shifts and schedules may vary to meet mission requirements, including weekends and holidays. Successful completion of training is required, and the ability to obtain customer approval for access is mandatory.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, Texas.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
