The successful Plane Captain performs aircraft handling, servicing, daily and turn around inspections as required. Provides pre-operational inspections and fuels ground support equipment, technical assistance, guidance.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Performs the duties and responsibilities of the Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper classifications.
- Performs daily and turn around inspections as required to the applicable procedures.
- Initiates and completes applicable maintenance forms.
- Performs Aircraft fuel sampling/servicing as required IAW established procedures.
- Launches and recovers aircraft.
- Serves as aircraft taxi director during launch and recovery operations.
- Tows aircraft and act as aircraft brake rider when required.
- Ties down and covers aircraft utilizing established procedures.
- Provides technical, assistance, guidance and instruction as required.
- Utilizes two-way communication equipment as required.
- Ensures compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
- Ensures compliance with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility and job assignment.
- Ensures safety, security and preservation of government and company owned equipment.
- Provides courteous and professional customer service.
- Operates portable firefighting equipment.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the work center.
- Performs other qualified duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Two (2) or more years’ experience in aviation maintenance and / or flight line operations.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Must obtain/maintain any government/company license, qualification, certification, and clearance requirements for the position.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate the English language and follow verbal and written instruction.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable safety and maintenance manuals.
- Thorough working knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, aircraft handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools and normal operational safety requirements of the aircraft.
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, carry, balance and reach above shoulder level, push or pull weight up to (70) pounds.
- Must have close vision to include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to hear at the normal range.
- Must complete training program and be certified in writing as a plane captain. Required to re-qualify semi-annually.
- •Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
- Required to be qualified on all assigned T/M/S.
- Must be able to work all assigned shifts & schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in F-18 (A-F), EA-18G, F-16 and strongly preferred
- Licensing certification requirements:
- Hazardous Waste Communications Training
- FOD and TCP Awareness Trained
- ISO 9001-2000 Program Awareness
- Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training
- Licensed on support equipment such as tow tractor, nitrogen servicing cart, engine wash cart and engine start unit, etc.
- May be required to handle hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties
- Ability to use eye hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- May require the use of respirator.
