PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs the troubleshooting and repairing of complex avionics/electrical components and subsystems discrepancies and modifications.
  • In-depth knowledge of the operation and maintenance of various avionics/electrical support equipment and test benches.
  • Proficient in reading wiring schematics and drawings.
  • Coordinates with the customer, the OEM, management, and work centers to resolve questions concerning avionics/electrical components, subsystems, and support equipment modifications and repairs.
  • Provides technical assistance, guidance, and instruction as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area.
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for adhering to Company Tool Control Program.
  • Documents work accomplished in current Maintenance Data System, such as NALCOMIS.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Accurately complete and sign individual employee daily timesheets.
  • Comply with established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment.
  • Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished.
  • Comply with established Hazardous Material/Waste Programs and Local, State, and Federal Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
  • Perform simple computer input and extraction functions.
  • May be required to perform duties of HAZMAT/HazWaste Custodian or Assistant Custodian when authorized and designated.
  • Assist when directed to ensure safety, security, and preservation of government-owned and company-owned equipment and property.
  • Share technical knowledge with other company employees to enhance the accomplishment of assigned tasks.
  • May be required to assist other employees in the performance of their duties.
  • May be required to pass a respirator physical.
  • Initiate reports required under the Naval Aviation Maintenance Discrepancy Reporting Program (NAMDRP).
  • When directed, assist management in investigating reports of defective material, workmanship, or work sites incidents.
  • Coordinate with supervision and Quality Control to resolve questions concerning serviceability and/or repair procedures.
  • Ensure Quality Control inspections are complied with.
  • Use common hand tools and publications to inspect, repair, service, troubleshoot, maintain and overhaul components and equipment.
  • Document work accomplished on Maintenance Action Forms (MAF), METER Card, and/or NALCOMIS.
  • Use provided test equipment and other support equipment to perform assigned tasks.
  • Read, interpret, and apply instructions from blueprints, drawings, schematics, and other approved data.
  • Ensure corrosion control cleaning, prevention, and treatment actions are performed as required.
  • Assist with ordering parts, tools, materials, and equipment as required.
  • Required to handle hazardous materials in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Attend meetings/training when directed.
  • Assist in the search for lost tools/items when directed.
  • May be required to operate a forklift.
  • Must be able to obtain a government Common Access Card (CAC) within six (6) months and maintain the required Security Clearance.
  • Maybe temporarily assigned to work at NAS Corpus Christi.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Maintains the highest ethical personal and professional standards.
POSITION SCOPE AND CHARTER

  • The candidate must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must have three (3) years of experience in aircraft avionics/electrical component and subsystems maintenance. To include avionics corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention, performing maintenance on avionics/electrical components, support equipment, utilizing test benches, tools, blueprints, drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and normal safety requirements.
  • Satisfactory completion of U.S. Armed Forces aircraft avionics component school or other schools with the equivalent curriculum.
  • Must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/ qualification requirements for the position.
  • Must be able to obtain the level of security clearance required by the Government.
  • Must possess a thorough working knowledge of applicable avionic systems troubleshooting, repair, modification, and maintenance procedures.
  • Must have a valid state operators license and be able to pass the government licensing requirements for support equipment and forklifts.
  • Obtain and maintain all applicable GSE Licenses.
  • Must become familiar with Company and Government Environmental, Health and Safety, Quality Control and Property Control policies and procedures and local operating procedures within sixty (60) days of the date of hire or assignment to the position.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write legibly, and understand the English language.
  • Knowledge of materials used and safety precautions as applicable to usage.
  • May be required to become a Quality Control Inspector (QCI).
  • Familiarization with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series, and other applicable Navy instructions, maintenance instruction manuals, IPBs, manufacturers manuals, and company instructions as required for the performance of job functions.
  • Must have graduated from or completed within 30 days of hire, a Navy-approved corrosion training course.
  • Must have the ability to accurately carry out written and verbal orders, instructions, and directives.
  • Must be able to work weekends, other shifts, and overtime as required.
  • The essential physical requirements of the position will be reviewed with the applicant during the interview.
  • Some travel will be required.
  • Must adhere to Company policies/procedures and management instruction.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and Company Proprietary data.

Job Requirements:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking, and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed fifty (50) pounds.

The diversity of working conditions may range from a standard climate-controlled environment where there is no physical discomfort, to a non-climate controlled environment, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.
