Hendrick Motorsports is currently seeking an experienced Chief Inspector in our Aviation department. The Chief Inspector shall possess an FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) Certificate with Inspection Authorization, exceptional regulatory knowledge, and the understanding and ability to supervise highly technical aircraft maintenance, inspection, and quality functions. The individual will be capable of leading, supervising, and maintaining a safe, compliant, well-trained, competent, proficient maintenance staff capable of executing operations consistent with the highest aviation maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance standards. The individual should possess significant relevant experience in the maintenance of FAR Part 25 certificated aircraft IAW industry best standards and practices. Experience in handling FAA FSDO audits will be necessary. He or she will be responsible for the overall operation of the inspection department, including final authority and responsibility for returning all aircraft or components to service, as well as all inspection standards, methods, and procedures used to comply with all regulations, manufacturer’s specifications or recommendations, and inspection policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Ensure the performance of the maintenance inspection program and quality control functions.
- Be the subject matter expert for the HMS Electronic Maintenance Tracking Program, which is Veryon.
- Perform vendor audits on MRO or OEM facilities that perform maintenance and inspection activities on HMS aircraft. Approve sources of off-site maintenance, inspection, and return-to-service.
- In coordination with aircraft leads, organize and manage all aspects regarding the aircraft logbooks and entries.
- Manage the approved RII inspection program.
- Provide oversight of the parts control process and inventory.
- Assist in the management of the tool control program.
- Manage the digital tool calibration program.
- Manage removal and disposal of expendable items, scrap, and hazardous materials IAW applicable standards.
- Assist the Aviation Safety Officer in developing and executing comprehensive, relevant, periodic safety audits of maintenance facilities, equipment, and processes.
- Comply with established policies, procedures, guidelines, practices, and FAR requirements.
- Actively participate in FAA FSDO annual audits.
- Maintain all manuals to the current revision, including revisions associated with Veryon.
- As needed, work the floor to assist maintenance technicians.
- Perform duties of the Director of Maintenance in his/her absence.
