Job Description SummaryThe Large Military Engines Cold Section Turbomachinery Mechanical Design Engineer will primarily support New Part Introduction (NPI) efforts on Next Generation Products (NGP) design, including new part design, component analysis, conducting design reviews, and provide engineering support for cold section components. This position may also encompass supporting legacy engine engineering support including customer improvement projects, changes in design, material review boards, etc.

This role will build and leverage multiple skill sets including project execution, technical leadership, analysis, design, and hardware ownership.

This position is hybrid-capable, requiring work on-site Tuesdays-Thursdays.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design ownership support of the NGP fan variable geometry system design, which is a mechanical system that controls the positioning of the inlet vanes into the engine
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Provide support to manufacturing programs for MRBs, QEMs, SPRs and SPSs (Materials Review Board; Quality Event Management; System Performance Review; Significant Process Substantiation)
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews 
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Design Engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • 5 years experience in Design Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with jet engine hardware design
  • In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools such as Ansys, Siemens NX, Finite Element Analysis and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Passionate, can-do, hands-on approach.
  • Ability to guide and influence others
