Job Overview:
A bonder performs repairs on parts/components by means of “Wet Layup” and “Prepreg”. Some repairs must be facilitated by the use of a clean room and cured by means of an autoclave. Types of Composite bonding methods utilized in repair may consist of: Co-curing, Co-bonding, secondary bonding, metal bonding, with adhesives in liquid form, and film.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Repairs are made in accordance with current technical data and procedures.
- Must be able to read basic blueprints
- Must be able to use close tolerance measuring tools (i.e., scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages, etc.).
- Must be able to use hand tools (i.e., drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.).
- Must have ability to perform alignment/assembly using jig, templates and fixtures.
- PPE must be used when cutting, grinding, blending, and sanding
- Extensive use of bagging materials
- Must be able to properly bag for a wide range of component shapes and styles.
- Capable of using a “Hot-Bonder” type machine cure procedure.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 years experience performing mechanical assembly in an aircraft, automotive, or similar environment is preferred.
Education:
- High school diploma, GED equivalent
Physical Requirements:
l Stand, kneel, bend, lift heavy objects (50 lbs.), for extended periods of time.
