This position is responsible for the overall operations of the maintenance department and the airworthiness of the aircraft. The Director of maintenance works to ensure the safety of company aircraft, including but not limited to airworthiness, regulatory compliance, sound maintenance practices, processes and operations. The Director of Maintenance will have a broad knowledge and thorough understanding of the aviation industry and the FAA regulations; ensure compliance with FAR/FAA Part 133/135 and FAR/FAA part 145 air carrier certificates, company policies, and federal regulations. This position falls under the VP of Maintenance. Expectation is complete cooperation and communication with management team, all monetary decisions must be pre-approved, travel requirements as needed for compliance checks and continuity as required, and maintain A&P and IA.
- Responsible for the overall operation of the company Maintenance Department and as such, will have oversight to release to service airframes, engines, rotors, appliances and component parts thereof.
- Specific duties for the Director of Maintenance as required in Company’s FAA approved Operations Manual and applicable FARs.
- Maintain compliance with current FAA Regulations, Inspection/Compliance Standards, company policies and procedures Ensures all aircraft are maintained in Airworthy condition
- Responsible for planning, scheduling and forecasting maintenance activities and managing a comprehensive maintenance department budget.
- Ensure adequate inspection aids, special tools and equipment are available, inspected and maintained in a serviceable condition
- Ensure all maintenance personnel performing maintenance and inspections have adequate training and are appropriately qualified to perform the work which they have been assigned
- Oversee maintenance management personnel training requirements and provide input on planning of all scheduled training
- Manage company tool control and tool calibration program to ensure all tools and test equipment are inspected and maintained in a serviceable and, when applicable, in calibrated condition
- Ensure accurate and timely execution of all required inspection records, reports and forms
- Conduct internal and external facility audits as necessary
- Ensure all required inspections, TBO and life limited components/parts are tracked on company aircraft.
- Performs administrative and clerical duties using computers including large amounts of data entry
- Ensure aircraft records, maintenance data, and flight data are maintained in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies
- Ensure aircraft and engine maintenance logs and maintenance records are screened and monitored to ensure compliance with current regulations, manufacturer maintenance programs, Airworthiness Directives, and company policies
- Responsible for managing and maintaining AAIP, MEL’s, and other FAA regulatory documentation as necessary
