Our client is a Helicopter company located in Phoenix, AZ. 

Position Summary

A Director of Maintenance is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all maintenance activities within the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of aviation regulations and maintenance procedures, as well as technical knowledge of helicopters.

Duties/Responsibilities

Lead the maintenance team consisting of  2-3 AMTs and 2 support personnel to deliver the following:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, as well as other relevant aviation authorities.
  • Maintenance Programs: Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive maintenance programs for the helicopter fleet, including scheduled inspections, repairs, and modifications.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and oversee a robust quality assurance program to ensure that all maintenance work is performed to the highest standards.
  • Safety Management: Promote a culture of safety within the organization, implementing safety initiatives and conducting regular safety audits.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of maintenance personnel, including mechanics, technicians, and supervisors.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Procurement: Oversee the procurement of maintenance materials, parts, and equipment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate maintenance-related incidents and accidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Physical demands consist of strenuous positions required to reach desired areas needing to be repaired. Ability to stand throughout long periods of time while using a wide variety of heavy tools needed to fix helicopter parts. Helicopter maintenance hangar may also experience loud noises consistently throughout the day. Ability to work in a confined area for an extended period of time. Ability to wear personal protective gear. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform their duties.

Location: Greater Phoenix, AZ

 Compensation & Benefits

  • Health Insurance (Medical, Dental, Vision) – HSA Plans or PPO Plans available
  • 40 hours of sick days per AZ employment law.
  • Vacation after 1 year of service = 1 week, 3 years = 2 weeks, after 5 years = 3 weeks. 
  • 401(K) - match (100% for first 2% and 50% for next 4%) 
  • FLSA status: Full-time – 40 hours per week

Working Hours: Mon-Fri 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM - after-hours flight following via phone as needed.

Job Requirements:
  • At least 5-10 years of experience as an AMT with the majority maintaining rotorcraft (Preferred)
  • Holds A&P License - Mandatory
  • Meets CFR - Part 119 requirements: 3 years within the last 6 years minimum experience in rotorcraft small to medium helicopter general maintenance, or 3 years within the last 6 years minimum experience repairing aircraft in a certified airframe repair station, including 1 year in the capacity of approving aircraft for return to service.
  • Bell 206 and Bell 212 aircraft or UH-1H are strongly preferred.
  • An Inspection Authorization (IA) certificate is not mandatory but highly recommended.  Or, agreement to pursue IA certification as part of employee agreement.
  • Knowledge of avionics is a plus.
