Job Summary:

Electronic Assembler performs, with supervision, basic and routine electronic or hybrid assembly operations on components, printed circuit boards, or subassemblies in accordance with military and/or other assembly standards using blueprints, visual aids, wiring lists, verbal and/or written instructions. The Assembler II may also be responsible for other processes related to the manufacture of electronic assemblies including, but not limited to: encapsulation (potting), conformal coating, SMT operations, and painting.  
 
Essential Functions:
  • Perform skilled soldering of circuit cards, touch up, jumper wires, through hole, and mag wire with use of microscope.
  • Execute hand assembly of cable assemblies, pin interface into connectors, masking/de-masking, crimping, stripping, riveting, touch up paint & chemical conversion, bonding and mixing chemical.
  • Use hand tools including but not limited to, soldering irons, solder suckers, torque wrenches, manual hand tools, power tools along with automated machine operation.
  • Visually check completed work against drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Recognize and assure correct values of electronic components: index and position mechanical components per drawing and specifications.
  • Cross-train to work on at least 2 products.
  • Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy.
  • Satisfactorily complete job-related company training courses
  • Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI’s, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise.
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management.
Electronics Focused Assemblers will also:
  • Perform a wide range of complex electronic assembly and soldering operations on low voltage, high voltage, microwave or other components or subassemblies in accordance with military and/or other assembly standards using blueprints, visual aids, wiring lists, verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Perform a wide range of complex hybrid electronic assembly to include the handling of hybrid components, wire bonding, ribbon attaching, and manually attaching hybrid components (utilizing a variety of materials such as AuSi, AuSn, 1 mil gold wire, 15 mil gold ribbon, etc.) in accordance with military and/or other assembly standards using blueprints, visual aids, wiring lists, verbal and/or written instructions all while utilizing a microscope.
  • Prep components prior to assembly, clean components, wire bond, seal, span, and inspect components, subassemblies, or completed assemblies.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Understand and or participate with internal/external audits.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts.
  • Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement.
  • May be required to repair/rework defective or returned assemblies and/or inspect components or final assemblies.
  • May also be responsible for other processes related to the manufacture of electronic assemblies including, but not limited to: encapsulation (potting), conformal coating, SMT operations, and painting.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience: 2-5 years of Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication; Good reading comprehension (understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents); Basic computer skills (understanding of basic software)
  • Abilities: Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception and other vision capabilities required; Manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity; Adept hand-eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness; Ability to thoroughly interpret production or engineering prints, production planning information and assembly aids such as illustrations and wiring diagrams; Ability to work well in a moderate to high paced work environment in a high-volume setting
  • Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent; Fine soldering certificate or equivalent experience
  • Eligibility Requirement: This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government. Additionally, as a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants selected could be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using resistance welder, sanders, and engraving.
  • Experience with magnetic assembly.
  • Ability to do part spaning, wrapping and packaging finished goods and transport to other work areas.
  • Ability to ensure all paperwork is completed appropriately and to close work orders.
  • Ability to perceive and pre-determine sequence of operations and installation requirements from sketches and oral instructions
