JOB SUMMARYCarries out engineering assignments concerned with the planning and design of new or existing piezoelectric sensors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESDevelops complex piezoelectric sensors by studying product requirements; researching, designing, analyzing, modifying, and testing piezoelectric materials using specialized test equipment; and conferring with external suppliers and customers. May serve as liaison to supplier base and external customers.Collaborates with other cross-functional teams (electrical engineering, test equipment engineering, manufacturing engineering) to ensure all customer requirements and documentation are satisfied.Prepares written and graphical documentation for the communication of requirements and design to all interested parties such as test equipment engineering, manufacturing engineering, and manufacturers/technicians.Assures product and process quality by adhering to company best practices and ensuring customer requirements are met. May be responsible for performing or overseeing qualification testing which can consist of vibration testing, shock testing, temperature testing, and other environmental testing. Determines root cause of failure using statistical methods (e.g. design of experiment, statistical process control) that may result in changes in design or processing methods.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a US Citizen
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBSME or equivalent. Zero to three years of experience in designing mechanical components/subsystems and applying ASME Y14.5M. Works under constant supervision. Performs assignments of mild complexity and assists other Engineers.Knowledge of drawing and drafting standards. Knowledge of applied thermodynamics and mechanical design. Experience in the development of military or aerospace equipment is a strong plus. Understanding of military specifications, environmental specifications, and test specifications a plus. Experience with electrical and electrical circuits and control theory a plus. Hands-on test and hardware experience is desired.
The wage range for this role considers allowances for a number of factors, including but not limited to required experience, skill level, prior training, licensure/certifications, education and other business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $67,418 - $108,839.
