JOB TITLE:           Ground Service Equipment Mechanic
DIVISION:            interCaribbean Airways

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the GSE Manager to:
Identify mechanical problems.

  1. Test parts and systems to ensure that they are working properly.
  2. Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined.
  3. Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, giving tune-ups, checking fluid levels, and rotating tires Repair or replace worn parts, such as brake pads and wheel bearings.
  4. Disassemble and reassemble parts.
  5. Tire repair (Light and heavy equipment) Hydraulic equipment repairman.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Specific Knowledge Required

  1. Ability to complete all paperwork to a high standard
  2. Experience in servicing, repair or maintenance of materials handling equipment (MHE), construction plant, agricultural machinery or powered access equipment (MEWP), or Forklift trucks.
  3. A background in GSE/MHE.
  4. GSE / Motor Mechanics Engineering City & Guilds (or equivalent)
  5. Knowledge of automotive, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and components
  6. Excellent customer service skills
  7. High Gross Vehicle (HGV) Class 1 License (DESIRABLE)
  8. 1 years HGV maintenance experience (DESIRABLE)
  9. Confidentiality and strong attention to detail and follow-through is required.
  10. Position requires shift work - days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English.
  2. Must be Computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft word and Excel
  3. Must have excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  4. Must have/maintain a good driving record to operate airport vehicles.
  5. Must be able to pass a five background and criminal record check.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES

  1. Ability to communicate Written and oral
  2. Proficient with Microsoft word and Excel.
  3. Good human relations skills.
  4. Ability to Follow Instructions.
  5. Have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills.
  6. Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.

 SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Duties are performed primarily outdoors irrespective of weather or time of day.
  2. Ability to work shifts including early mornings, late night, weekends and holidays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Aircraft ground support equipment encompasses all equipment required to carry out aircraft maintenance activities and to support flying operations. This equipment typically includes ground power units, hydraulic rigs, and aircraft loading devices. It also includes a wide range of small engine equipment such as refueling equipment, ground power units, hydraulic rigs and hoists. As a member of the GSE Technician team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of this specialized equipment.

VEHICLE MAINTENANCE:
Repair and maintain of all the Aircraft’s specialist vehicles. You will be involved in the daily maintenance, fault identification and rectification of a wide range of vehicles, with special emphasis on heavy vehicles such as forklift trucks and aircraft tugs.
