Job Description:

The Quality Control (QC) Inspector is responsible for ensuring that aircraft painting and refinishing processes meet industry standards, customer specifications, and company quality requirements. This role involves inspecting aircraft surfaces, verifying proper paint application, and documenting findings to maintain compliance with FAA regulations and company procedures. The QC Inspector plays a crucial role in upholding safety, quality, and efficiency in aircraft refinishing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct thorough visual and dimensional inspections of aircraft surfaces before, during, and after painting to ensure compliance with specifications.
Verify proper surface preparation, masking, priming, and topcoat application per technical data and work instructions.
Perform thickness checks, adhesion tests, and gloss measurements using appropriate tools and equipment.
Identify and document defects or non-conformities, including runs, sags, orange peel, or contamination, and communicate corrective actions.
Ensure that all painting operations adhere to FAA regulations, customer requirements, and internal quality standards.
Work closely with painters, technicians, and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve quality issues.
Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and quality documentation in compliance with company policies.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations regarding quality control processes.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and hazardous material handling related to paints, coatings, and chemicals.
Train and mentor team members on quality procedures and best practices to promote continuous improvement.

Requirements

4-6 years of aircraft inspection experience
Understanding of paint application techniques, FAA regulations, and inspection procedures.
A&P License required
Attention to Detail: Strong ability to identify imperfections, defects, and inconsistencies in paint finishes.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb ladders/scaffolding for extended periods; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively document and report findings.
Tools & Equipment: Familiarity with coating thickness gauges, gloss meters, adhesion testers, and other inspection tools.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work varied shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to meet production schedules.
