Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Technician to inspect, modify, and repair aircraft at our maintenance base. This senior role involves troubleshooting technical discrepancies, executing repairs, and providing leadership to other mechanics on advanced tasks. The position requires proficiency with electronic test equipment and the ability to coordinate materials, tooling, and manpower requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Duties- Perform complex troubleshooting and repairs on transport category aircraft
- Conduct aircraft inspections following company procedures
- Operate electronic test equipment, including voltage/amperage measuring and recording devices
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and technical orders
- Maintain company equipment and tooling
- Interface with contract maintenance personnel
Leadership & Coordination- Lead and guide mechanics on advanced tasks
- Organize daily tasks and coordinate aircraft inspections/repairs
- Schedule manpower to cover maintenance and inspections
- Act as shift manager when required
- Coordinate materials and tooling requirements for entire shifts
Documentation & Compliance- Ensure accurate completion of aircraft documentation per company and FAA procedures
- Communicate discrepancies to Maintenance Control department
- Perform manual and aircraft parts inventories
- Maintain safety measures and cleanliness standards
- Support on-time departure of aircraft
Required Qualifications- Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
- Transport category aircraft maintenance experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Formal training on advanced systems/avionics
- Valid passport or State issued driver's license
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft software and digital manuals
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
Working Conditions- Variable weather conditions
- Rotating schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Occasional travel for AOG recovery and special projects
- On-site role at O'Hare International Airport
