Job Description:

The Lead Mechanic oversees the maintenance tasks in the service, repair, and overhaul of aircraft
to insure airworthiness. Ensures timely completion of tasks and provides training and mentorship for an
assigned function area. Assists with Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities for short periods of time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures all tasks are promptly completed in compliance with federal regulations, customer guidelines
and company policies.
&x2022; Reviews required customer and FAA paperwork to ensure proper maintenance updates and compliance
with applicable regulations and customer requirements.
&x2022; Leads the maintenance, preventative maintenance, or alteration of, or approve and return to service,
any aircraft, or part thereof, only for which that Lead is rated and has satisfactorily performed the work
concerned at an earlier date.
&x2022; Performs maintenance tasks as required and becomes an active member of the crew.
&x2022; Conducts crew meetings to ensure communication regarding work, safety, and quality.
&x2022; Uses technical data to order parts and ensure material is effective for aircraft being installed on. Ensures
all parts for specialty area are ordered in a timely manner.
&x2022; Ensures Engineering is submitted in timely manner as needed.
&x2022; Responsible for keeping all assigned areas clean and audit ready. Identifies and eliminates hazards that
pose a risk to employee safety and quality of work. Ensures compliance with safety requirements.
&x2022; Responsible for on-time delivery in assigned skill set in coordination with other skill sets.
&x2022; Monitors and corrects routine and non-routine labor hours prior to exceeding allotted estimated hours.
&x2022; Notifies Supervisor of variations in labor requirements to ensure most efficient utilization of labor and
resources and to avoid LOW when possible.
&x2022; Answers questions from customers as needed.
&x2022; Responsible for setting timeframe expectations with technicians on task card accomplishment.
&x2022; Oversees On-the-Job Training (OJT) to provide learning opportunities through work assignment and
mentoring.
&x2022; Recommends changes to processes to improve efficiencies and workflow.
&x2022; Complies with, communicates, and provides guidance to team members on ATS policies, procedures and
Safety Management System (SMS) requirements. Promotes "Balanced Technician" concept.
&x2022; Mentors and develops technical and leadership skills of the mechanics.
&x2022; Communicates with Supervisor all information on assigned employees including disciplinary problems.
May deliver or give input with performance evaluations on assigned employees.
&x2022; Provides regular feedback and performance coaching including appropriate management of time,
prioritizing tasks, and ensuring proper knowledge and training to accomplish assignments to all
members of assigned crew.
&x2022; Responsible for accurate timekeeping including clocking into jobs.
&x2022; Responsible for accuracy of clocking into jobs for assigned team.
&x2022; Responsible for adhering to all ATS required training.
&x2022; Regular and predictable attendance.
&x2022; Effective and appropriate conduct with co-workers.

Requirements

Minimum of four (4) years recent commercial aircraft maintenance and/or MRO experience preferred.
&x2022; Applicable Repairman, Airframe, or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification required.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
&x2022; Ability to communicate effectively with other maintenance and support personnel at all levels regarding
job related issues.
&x2022; Ability to read and comprehend written documents.
&x2022; Effective negotiation skills.
&x2022; Ability to reason, organize and solve complex problems.
&x2022; Ability to manage multiple tasks on multiple projects at one time.
&x2022; Ability to guide and mentor personnel.

information in order to troubleshoot problems.
&x2022; Ability to meet all regulatory requirements per FAR 65.
&x2022; General PC skills and basic knowledge in MS Office (Outlook, Word).
&x2022; General working knowledge of Gateway programs and may include Oracle.

Miscellaneous

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit, stand, and walk; use their hands
and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee may be required to stoop, kneel,
crouch or crawl. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift
and/or move up to 75 pounds.
ENVIRONMENT:
Based on location, may be required to pass background check for SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) or
AOA (Airport Operations Area) badge.
The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate to high. May occasionally work near moving
mechanical parts in high, precarious places and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May work
outside in various types of weather. This position requires use of a respirator.
