The Maintenance Control department provides 24/7 on-call support to Guardian Flight Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and Flight Crews. Maintenance Control can be fast-paced and requires individuals who are able to work well under pressure, prioritize, multi-task, and be a problem solver, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. The Maintenance Control Specialist will perform their duties and responsibilities as listed below in support of the company’s Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate. They will be expected to possess the experience and knowledge listed in the Minimum Qualification section below to ensure that through the execution of their duties, the maintenance and alterations performed by company personnel and vendors on company aircraft are accomplished in accordance with the appropriate technical data and in compliance with all applicable company policies and regulatory requirements. Maintenance Control Specialists report to the Maintenance Control Manager.
Responsibilities
- Receives calls from pilots or technicians who are reporting aircraft system malfunctions. When a discrepancy is recorded by an AMT or pilot, Maintenance Control is responsible to remove the aircraft from service until repairs can be made. If the discrepancy is related to a system or component for which the repair may be deferred under authority of the fleet MEL, MXC may process the MEL deferral to continue the aircraft in service.
- Performs as the primary point of contact for scheduled and unscheduled aircraft out-of-service (OOS) events performed in the field. Communicates aircraft status with the Regional Maintenance Manager, Communication Center, Operations, and other stakeholders.
- Assists in coordinating manpower, tooling and special equipment, personnel, vendor support, replacement parts, and spare aircraft, as applicable.
- Reviews aircraft maintenance releases and associated supporting documents for applicable field maintenance events to ensure all necessary documentation is complete, accurate, and appropriate to the work performed.
- Coordinates with the Operations department designee to support the flight operations schedule and requirements, and to request pilots for maintenance reposition and check flights.
- Enters deferred maintenance items in the MEL Deferral Log on the company intranet site and in Ramco. Issues MEL control numbers and maintains the MEL control log current and accurate. Closes the deferred MEL item event in the control log entering the appropriate notes upon repair of the system/component and aircraft return to service.
- Enters scheduled and unscheduled OOS events performed in the field in the OOS Event Log on the company intranet site; ensures notes are entered in the event log daily if the OOS event results in a significant multi-day repair effort; closes the event after the aircraft is returned to service.
- Maintains the Aircraft Status Board current and accurate for scheduled and unscheduled aircraft OOS events in the field; designates the aircraft as removed from service with applicable notes; approves aircraft as “In Service” and available for dispatch after the return to service process has been completed.
- Reviews and audits the aircraft maintenance technical database program after updates by technicians to ensure completeness and accuracy after scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is performed. Verifies scheduled maintenance requirements, including tracked parts and scheduled inspections, are tracking correctly in the maintenance tracking program. Uploads complete and final copies of all documents associated with the maintenance event. Forwards requests for secondary audits for applicable maintenance events to the Quality Assurance Department.
- Manages the submission of 14 CFR 135.415 (SDR) and 135.417 (MISR) reports ensuring the flight crew and maintenance staff completes the associated company forms in the allotted timeframe and forwards the reports to the Director of Maintenance.
- Assists in the planning of major scheduled maintenance events at fixed-wing regional maintenance bases, as required.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Control Manager.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
- Five (5) years of experience working in an FAA 14 CFR Part 135 or part 145 aircraft maintenance technical, management or quality control supporting role.
- Significant experience administering the policy and procedures of Approved Aircraft Inspection Programs (AAIP) and aircraft Minimum Equipment Lists (MEL).
- Strong knowledge of 14 CFR regulations and associated guidance material applicable to maintenance and operations of aircraft operated on a 14 CFR Part 135 air carrier certificate.
- Ability to interpret, apply, and effectively communicate complex technical data and processes associated with aircraft maintenance and alterations.
- Ability and willingness to participate in the after-hours maintenance support which includes working some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Possess a strong work ethic, customer service skills, and the ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with all levels of an organization.
- Must be proficient in a dynamic computerized working environment performing administrative tasks using Microsoft Office Suite programs, web-based maintenance management programs, and Enterprise Recourse Planning (ERP) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA Inspection Authorization Certificate
- Five (5) years of experience in an aircraft maintenance control or aircraft quality control function focusing on review of aircraft maintenance and alterations documentation.
- Prior significant maintenance experience with Beechcraft King Air series turboprop, Pilatus PC12 series turboprop, and Bombardier/Learjet light and mid-size jet aircraft.
- Prior significant maintenance experience with aircraft operated in an EMS configuration on an FAA part 135 air carrier certificate.
