Role Summary

The Maintenance Controller is a subject matter expert in maintenance operations at Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions in compliance with all company, FAA, and government safety rules and regulations, and is responsible for monitoring and overseeing all ongoing unscheduled aircraft maintenance activity.

Key Duties

  • Provide leadership and direction for the maintenance operation to ensure high standards of performance are maintained in the areas of safety, compliance, quality and cost.

  • Provide technical assistance and support to company flight crews experiencing mechanical irregularities on company aircraft.

  • Immediately notify the Maintenance Operations Manager (MOM) upon discovery of FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations) non-compliance.

  • Coordinate aircraft ferry authorization when necessary, assuring all ferry operations are conducted in accordance with current existing company policies and procedures.

  • Provide accurate ETR and advise times for all scheduled and unscheduled out of service aircraft through close coordination with maintenance personnel.

  • Authorize the use of Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Configuration Deviation List (CDL), and Nonessential Equipment and Furnishings (NEF) list deferrals.

  • Notify the Maintenance Operations Manager or Director of Maintenance Control regarding abnormal situations such as aircraft incidents or irregular flight operations due to mechanical malfunction.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 4 years of experience in the commercial airline industry.

  • Hold a mechanic certificate with airframe and powerplant ratings for at least 5 years.

  • Meet the recent experience requirements of 14 CFR 65.83 (i.e., 6 months experience in the last 24 months).

  • Technical expertise on all operational fleet types.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Salary Range

$99,200 -- $141,400 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
