Mechanic Trainee (A&P Intern)

Job Description:

The Mechanic Trainee will work closely with the Crew Chief for the Airframe Service Department.
This position is an internship position and will be involved in learning how to perform routine maintenance, and major inspections on turbofan and turboprop powered aircraft.
Trouble-shooting, repair, and modification of aircraft components and engines will also be a part of this OJT program.
Issues tooling to shop personnel and maintains a system to track the whereabouts of tooling.
Inspects, maintains, services, and repairs tools. Accomplish or coordinate tool calibrations as required.
Prepares tools for shipment to outside repair and/or calibration vendors
Maintains calibration certification documentation.

Job Requirements:

A prospective student must meet screening, security, and fitness requirements.
Must have completed the general studies portion of their A&P curriculum with a minimum GPA of 2.5, and have an anticipated graduation date within one year; or equivalent industry experience.
The prospective student cannot have missed more than three days per six month time period while in their course of study.
Must have basic computer knowledge.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds, walk, stand, bend, stretch, and climb ladders.
Must have the ability to think clearly and speak intelligibly.
Must have the ability to manipulate equipment of all sizes, tools, computer keyboards, and telephones.
Must be able to see to disassemble and visually inspect.
Must be able to hear to detect the sources of problems.
Must have excellent hand-to-eye coordination.
Must have good interpersonal and verbal skills in order to interface with customers and employees.

Must be authorized to work in the US.
