SkillBridge Specific Information:
This is an unpaid fellowship through the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge Program. The fellow selected for this role will not receive compensation or benefits from StandardAero and will not be an employee, agent, or contractor of StandardAero but rather will remain an employee of the DoD and will receive compensation and benefits through the DoD.
DoD SkillBridge Eligibility Requirements:
- Has served at least 180 days on active duty
- Can participate within the last 6 months of separation or retirement
- Will receive an honorable discharge
- Has taken any service TAP/TGPS
- Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
- Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of the fellowship.

Job Duties:
- The Mechanic Trainee learns how to perform routine maintenance and assist with major inspections on aircraft and aircraft systems.
- Performs trouble-shooting, repair, and modification of aircraft components and engines.
- Performs routine servicing tasks on aircraft and engine components installed.
- Familiarizes self with materials processes.
- Observes all safety, environmental, and general housekeeping rules and policies.
- Performs other duties as required by the department.
Requirements:
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be eligible to be a Skill Bridge candidate.
- Must meet screening and security requirements in order to obtain an airport badge.
- Must be working towards a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
- Must have basic computer knowledge.
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have proven mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Must have proven experience using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Must be able to accurately read/interpret dimensions and measurements.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand a minimum of 8 hours per day and walk long distances.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, crawl, and climb ladders in order to work on areas within the aircraft that are difficult to access.
- Must be able to think clearly and speak intelligibly on the telephone and in person.
- Must be able to manipulate equipment of all sizes, tools, computer keyboards, and telephones.
- Must be able to work outside in extremes of temperature and inclement weather.
- Must be able to see to disassemble and visually inspect.
- Must be able to hear to detect the sources of problems.
- Must have excellent hand-to-eye coordination.
