Job Description:

Description:IAM Hourly represented employees who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, Vandenburg Air Force Base or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.

This occupation requires repair, servicing and operational checkout of missile structures, structural components and mechanical systems and in accordance with established information, detailed specifications, or shop theory, practice and procedures at field test and launch facilities.

WORK PERFORMED
Work from specific verbal instructions, released engineering documents, established or known shop practice and procedures, or as directed by Test Mechanics or others. Perform, in connection with the foregoing, such typical structures field test operations as:
Fabricating, assembling, installing, modifying, repairing and maintaining structural
components, assemblies, systems and associated mechanical elements as required.
Perform general servicing operations. Clean, strip and mask structures and components in preparation for paint. Number, stencil and apply paint and decals in accordance with specifications. Setup test equipment for, and perform standardized tests following established procedures or using permanent test apparatus. Perform disassembly of installations and systems or tear down of test setups including salvaging of usable parts and materials. Assist in troubleshooting where the operations are essentially the same as those described above. Assist qualified Test Mechanics or professional personnel as required. Participate in observation, countdown, postflight or recovery program activities as
required by performing specified duties at assigned stations.

TYPICAL MATERIALS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Materials worked on: Ferrous and non-ferrous metals and related alloys; non-metallic
materials.
Materials worked with: Missile structural components, assemblies and systems; sealants,
paints, and lubricants. Tools used: Mechanics’ hand tools, portable drills and grinders, hand torches, gauges,
templates. Equipment used: Checkout and testing instruments, paint sprayers, bench and basic shop machines and equipment, motor vehicles and other ground handling equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
• Possesses a knowledge of shop theory, practice and requirements necessary to prepare missile structures, structural components and mechanical systems for test or flight purposes at the level indicated in the above described duties.
• Use shop mathematics including angular measurements.
• Operate machine tools listed above.
• Possess a knowledge of the physical and working characteristics of missile structural materials, parts, assemblies and systems.
• Be familiar with postflight, countdown, recovery program duties, equipment, base and LMC regulations.
• Work with proper knowledge of safety practices and regulations.
• In order to hold this classification, an employee must possess all certifications and/or licenses
required.
• May require the ability to handle program-peculiar equipment/material.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
