MISSION:
To assemble complex segmented patterns in a dimensionally controlled fixture in preparation for the gating process.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Preparation
Objective: to inspect pattern components and dimensional fixture prior to loading.
Typical Activities:
A. Pre-inspects pattern and dimensional fixture prior to start of assembly.
B. Reads and follows technique card assembly instructions, which describe numerous unique assembly steps of a complex nature; plans the methods for completing a given assignment and selects among alternative assembly methods.
2. Assembly
Objective: to accurately assemble complex multi-component patterns to maintain dimensional integrity.
Typical Activities:
A. Assembles complex multi-component patterns by means of torch, hot pencils, and a variety of hand tools.
B. Assembles complex patterns using full-time dimensional fixturing to maintain dimensional control and stability.
C. Manipulates fixture/pattern components to remove configuration discrepancies and verify dimensional integrity.
D. Possibly develops code sheets for engineering-requested modifications or deviations to standard assemblies.
E. Inspects assemblies during and after the assembly process to detect defects and ensure quality.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to apply pattern assembly techniques, methods, materials, fixturing and construction.
2. Experience assembling wax patterns and/or pattern finishing is preferred or the equivalent experience.
3. Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
4. Ability to work in a team environment and promote team development.
5. Ability to read and follow complex written instructions.
6. Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to one hundred twenty five pounds with assistance.
7. Ability to work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, fumes, crowding, awkward physical positions, abrasions, cuts, and chemicals.
