Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join our quality assurance team. As part of this team, you will perform final and in process inspection of sub-assemblies, aircraft installation and integration for a VTOL electric aircraft. The inspection process will help baseline the company’s hardware design and installation efforts and pave the way to production ready aircraft. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of inspection tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive inspection of assemblies and installations of mechanical and electrical subassemblies
- Perform aircraft inspections per company procedures
- Participate in Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) in accordance with company guidelines
- Works from diagrams and drawings, confirms initial layouts, and uses hand tools to check conformity to specification
- Follows approved inspection procedures for component or aircraft structures, consulting internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) technical data, and work package instructions
- Completes work package documentation as required by internal quality process and FAA guidelines
- Review assembly work for final/in progress inspection and certification of airworthiness
- Provide feedback to quality engineering team and assist in development of inspection process and procedures
Required
- High School or GED
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate
- Must be able to work with electro-mechanical devices, high voltage power systems, and electronics equipment. Relevant training will be provided
- Must possess general working knowledge of hand tools and precision measuring equipment
- Must be able to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
- Basic computer and interpersonal skills are required to effectively communicate with coworkers
- Must be able to work both independently and on a team and be able to work extended hours as required
Desired
- Three (3) years experience with aircraft assembly, mechanical assembly, or aircraft structures as well as able to use all tech data and aircraft drawings, and manufacturing work instructions to perform inspections
- Familiar with paste/secondary bonded structure
- FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) rating a plus
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $27-$36/hour. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
