Repair Station Mechanic
Job Description:

Responsibilities

Location: Wichita, KS

Level A

Employee is able to perform the functions of the Repair Station Level A Mechanic, such as:

  • Perform all duties of levels B and C.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise in fabricating, maintenance and repair of both metallic and nonmetallic parts, applying knowledge of-end-item operations.
  • Performs maintenance, repairs, and overhauls through the use of electronic media work instructions,Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs), Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs),Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), Service Letters, Service-Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, work instructions, customer requirement documents, engineering dispositions, and FAA approved data.
  • Verifies dimensions of parts using both mechanical and electronic precision measurement tools.
  • Able to capture, translate, validate or-provide measurement data to meet top-level requirements including the-following task and responsibilities such as Maintain required personal-certifications and FAA Repairman or Airframe mechanic credentials.
  • Perform complete tear-down and evaluations of parts for-serviceability, including first part review, of procured or fabricated parts and assemblies.
  • Initiate and document any non-conforming condition-for Repair Station engineering.
  • Perform process surveillance to assure compliance with Repair Station manual and procedural requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain maintenance records, including electronic work order system.
  • Coordinate with engineering and other disciplines in the determination and development of materials, processes, specifications,and related documents to be used in the fabrication, rework, maintenance and repair or change incorporation of metallic and nonmetallic parts,tools, assemblies and equipment.
  • Provide high-level technical support-and leadership relative to assembly and installation.
  • Operate co-ordinate measuring systems.
  • Within the scope of the job description,perform with established quality, cost and schedule requirements for the repair station.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of all shop performance metrics.
  • May be required to fabricate shop aids, or fixtures used to maintain contour and configuration during maintenance operations.

Level B

Employee can perform the functions of the Repair Station Level B Mechanic, such as:

  • Place vacuum and pressure bags over and inside wrapped parts and tools, and test for leaks.
  • Load, unload and operate ovens and autoclaves in the curing of parts and assemblies.
  • Operate portable repair/bonding equipment to accomplish rework, repair or change incorporation on completed assemblies.
  • Experience in taper sanding composite structures.
  • Proficient in core repair and composite ply layup.
  • Maintenance / Repair / Overhaul of Struts and Nacelles – Repair strut and nacelle parts, assemblies, and components as part of larger assembly repairs.
  • Complete all repairs of thrust reverser thermal blankets.
  • Maintain required personal certifications, attain FAA Repairman Certificate or Airframe Mechanic license.
  • Operate testing equipment, machines, and devices in accordance with established procedures.
  • Drill, saw, file, sand, pot, patch, build up, trim, fit and rivet parts to meet repair manual /repair instruction requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • This is a DOT safety sensitive position and requires participation in a DOT drug screen and random screenings
  • Must have 5 years sheet metal assembly structures experience
  • All applicants must be willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks
  • Must be willing to work any shift

Preferred:

  • 777 and 737, thrust reverser, inlet, fan cowl experience preferred
  • Repair Station Mechanic experience
  • Airframe License
