ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS, CONDITIONS, AND COMPETENCIES To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the listed items satisfactorily Sheet Metal Structural Mechanic I Job Code: 7313G6 Grade: G6 Pay Type: Non-Exempt EEO Classification:Operatives Assists the Supervisor in the production of high-quality aircraft parts & assemblies following Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions. Assists in meeting or exceeding planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals.

Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in the following tasks:

Assemble aircraft sheet metal structural wings and fuselages including mating stress critical joints, areas requiring critical close tolerance holes

Hand, locate and drill, as well as trim critical mate joints of fuselages and wings, and other critical operations as needed

Performs at a high level of quality and productivity. Assists other teammates to achieve a high level of quality and productivity. Inspecting and buying off all assemblies in the department using Piper inspection certifications.

Maintain departmental compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.

Interface with other departments regarding quality concerns to resolve expeditiously and in a cost-effective manner.

Troubleshoot and re-work all major discrepancies as necessary. Primary point of contact for performing major and regular Material Review Board repairs, Standard repairs and modifying aircraft due to customer or design directed changes.

Act as the technical liaison between Pipers Manufacturing Support Teams as well as vendors, equipment suppliers, etc. when appropriate.

Conduct or coordinate training and cross training of teammates to attain acceptable levels of performance.

Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance the teams performance including schedule delivery performance, reduction of late work, elimination of quality defects & scrap, increasing productivity and generating cost reductions. Assists with data collection, review and report generation.

Work with other manufacturing areas to ensure production readiness for design changes. Provides assistance when required during new product development, design, build and testing. This may periodically involve augmenting Experimental Flight Test Department in a variety of capacities in order to achieve critical program milestones.

Ensure the department maintains compliance with Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned program requirements.

Audit all departmental programs for effectiveness

Partner with senior teammates within career path to receive and share practical knowledge for proper training to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.

Adhere and maintain all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.

High school diploma or equivalent

Related sheet metal structural mechanic experience requirements: o Sheet Metal Structural Mechanic I: 2 years of Structural Assembler experience o Sheet Metal Structural Mechanic II: 2 5 years of Mechanic experience o Senior Sheet Metal Structural Mechanic: 5 years of Mechanic experience

Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Use of hand and power tools as required

Follow all safety procedures

Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).

Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions Physical Demands

Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out, and below. Mental Demands
