Responsible for all mechanical components, assemblies, and modification of the various types of simulator devices. This includes but is not limited to common tasks such as cutting, drilling, fitting, riveting, bending, layout, gluing, and an assortment of assembly fastening techniques.u202Fu202F

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesu202F

• Perform receiving inspection for shipping damage and inventory of materials/products received at site.u202F

• Read work orders, follow production, and sample assemblies, diagrams, parts lists or receive verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.u202Fu202F

• Measure parts to determine specified tolerance.u202F

• Ability to read precision measuring equipment.u202F

• Reads and interprets blueprints to fabricate complex assemblies.u202F

• Fabricates parts from raw materials.u202F

• Files and buffs parts to fit.u202F

• Drills, taps, reams, countersinks, and spot face bolt holes in parts.u202F

• Position and aligns parts.u202F

• Identifies and utilizes appropriate hardware as required.u202F

• Bolts, screws, and rivets parts together to close tolerances.u202F

• Disassembles and replaces parts as required.u202F

• Laps and hones internal cylindrical surfaces.u202F

Qualifications and Education Requirementsu202F

• High school diploma or general education degree.u202F

• 5+ years of experience as a flight simulator mechanic.u202F

• Must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearanceu202F

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations with other employees of the organization.u202F

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to figure percentages, area, circumference, and volume and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.u202F

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.u202F

• Must have a good knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical hand tools and be able to effectively use them (Hammers, wrenches, screw drivers, pliers, precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers and scales, pneumatic and manual drills, rivet guns, fastening tools such as clamps and clecos shop equipment such as drill presses, brakes, and shears etc.).u202F

• Must have a sound understanding of military and commercial workmanship standards.u202F

• Must be willing and able to assume work assignments away from the facility for extended periods of time (40 of the year) and be willing to work rotating shifts.u202Fu202F

• Must be able to work from parts lists, assembly drawings, schematics, engineering orders, engineering change orders, engineering logs, CAE workmanship standards and CAE manufacturing procedures / work instructions.u202F
