Sr. Engineer - Liaison - Propulsion & Mechanical Systems  (Full Time)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Engineer will play a crucial role in aircraft troubleshooting efforts, ensuring resolution of technical issues related to powerplant and mechanical systems of production aircraft.  This position will be the technical point of contact for Flight Line mechanics to assist in aircraft completion.  A key part of this position is documenting steps to resolution of issues and creating troubleshooting guides to assist other team members.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

         Provide technical guidance and support during troubleshooting activities, offering expert advice on modification and repairs

         Disposition non-conformances in accordance with Material Review Board, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Company standards.

         Prepare and update work instructions and troubleshooting guides.

         Assist Flight Line mechanics with determining root cause and corrective measures for issues associated with powerplant installation and all other mechanical system installations.

         Support Production and Flight Line in the troubleshooting of assembly and operation problems.

         Interface with Supplier Quality to monitor component failures ensuring proper corrective actions are taken

         Mentor junior engineers.

         Perform other related duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.  May be required to train and assist other employees, effectively partnering and collaborating on department and cross-functional organizational initiatives.

 

Minimum Position Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

         Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, and minimum of seven years’ experience with propulsion and other mechanical systems, preferably in general aviation aircraft.  Pilot experience and Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic experience is preferred

         Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) part 23 or 25 is necessary to perform the duties of this position.

         Working knowledge of Windows based computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook

         Interacts regularly with various staff and employees, and occasionally with vendors, suppliers, community members and regulatory agency representatives.

 

         Travel and overtime are required when necessary.
