Job Title: Aircraft Structures Technician

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced F-35 Aircraft Structures Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a experience in airframes and sheet metal work, with the ability to perform complex modifications and repairs on aircraft structures. This role requires adherence to strict safety and quality standards, and the ability to work as part of a Contract Field Team (CFT).

Responsibilities

  • Install detail parts such as shims, splices, gussets, angles, brackets, doublers, and patches.
  • Modify major structural components such as ribs, stiffeners, longerons, straps, and skins using shop aids to facilitate assembly and installation.
  • Modify composite aircraft parts and assemblies, exercising a complete knowledge of bonding practices, procedures, and layouts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and structure repair manuals.
  • Identify aircraft locations by station, butt-line, and waterline using precision measuring instruments.
  • Utilize tools such as drills, angle motors, shears, drill press, and pneumatic riveter.
  • Adhere to site policies and procedures.
  • Work with a variety of aircraft materials, including aluminum, steel, titanium, plastic, and advanced composites.
  • Familiar with cold-working methods.
  • Verify application/condition of installed LO materials for conformity to specifications and determine material and time required to perform repairs.
  • Set up and operate various types of material testers and mixers.
  • Comply with all health and safety, tool control, FOD control, and training and certification requirements.
  • Document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, and parts requests.
  • Perform assigned duties while wearing required safety equipment.
  • Perform duties as part of a Contract Field Team (CFT) responsible for depot level modifications at customer locations.
  • Assist in other technical disciplines as requested by team leads or management.
  • Provide temporary support to other CFT locations as needed.
Essential Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 4 years of airframes/sheet metal experience.
  • Active secret DOD clearance.
  • Comprehensive written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including regularly lifting up to 50 pounds, performing repetitive movements, working overhead, and using hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in depot-level maintenance, heavy aircraft modifications, or commercial D-Checks/Heavy Maintenance Visits (HMV).
  • Experience on legacy fighter aircraft such as F-15, F-16, F-18, or AV-8B, heavy military transport aircraft such as C-130, C-5, KC-135, KC-10, C-17, or commercial airliners.
  • 8 or more years as a full-time airframes/aircraft structures mechanic.

Work Environment

The role operates on the 1st shift with a flexible start time. The work environment includes working with various technologies and equipment, adhering to strict safety standards, and wearing required safety equipment. The position may require temporary support at other CFT locations, including NAS Lemoore, MCAS Miramar, MCAS Cherry Point, and MCAS Beaufort.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Yuma, Arizona.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
