The Sub-Section Manager for Advanced Mechanical Systems is responsible for activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems supporting our RISE technology programs. This role leads a team of engineers and reports to the Section Leader for Advanced Mechanical Design.
The hybrid schedule consists of working in the office minimum of 3 days per week and the option to work from home on the other days, based on team/project schedules.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Help teams of mechanical engineers design components and systems using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Nurture, coach and manage a small- to medium-sized team of engineers.
- Influence the development of strategy for advanced mechanical systems, including allocating resources and formulating policies.
- Become knowledgeable about external business challenges and industry trends. Use this knowledge to recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
- Use a high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks in engineering in the absence of complete information.
- Able to assess the quality of information given by others and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.
- Can offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters.
- Communicate difficult concepts with clarity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design
