Job Title: Target Inspector
Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Glendale specializes in the manufacturing of precision magnesium and aluminum sand castings. We have an exciting opportunity for a Targeting Inspector.
Essential Responsibilities
- Inspect castings for dimensional accuracy and surface defects through use of inspection fixtures and measurement tools.
- Verify and/or create qualified tooling points on castings.
- Locate fixture and bring to workstation by pushing rolling cart to workstation
- Verify fixture has current calibration (reading)
- Verify all operations on Travelers are complete
- Match traveler melt ’s to castings
- Visually inspect castings for surface imperfections
- Review technique for standard and special instructions
- Load casting into fixture, secure lid (lifting up/manual)
- Optimize casting to best possible position using templates and flush pins
- Set up drill and depth indicator
- Drill all spot-faces to correct depth
- Remove casting from fixture and de-burr
- Degrease casting (aluminum only - using industrial chemical resistant gloves)
- Sign and date traveler
- Move casting in Shop Floor Control
- Bring castings and travelers to Final Inspection staging area
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Minimum five years in manufacturing or production environment preferred.
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Ability to use height gages, micrometers, calipers, etc., to measure, check and correlate information with specifications.
- Must be able to deadlift 50lbs with appropriate technique.
- Must be able to work on feet for 8+ hours/day
- Must be able/willing to work overtime, including Saturdays, when/if needed.
- Must be able to speak and comprehend English (bilingual in Spanish preferred)
