Our client is seeking General Mechanics to support our program in San Antonio, TX. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in on-aircraft general maintenance and modifications, specifically at the Depot Level/Heavy General Maintenance. The candidate should be able to interpret engineering drawings, perform modifications, and understand various aircraft systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure and systems in accordance with standard repair processes.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform modification/repair.
- Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural parts.
- Demonstrate detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
- Perform efforts associated with flight controls installation, removal, and rigging, as well as landing gear and servicing of aircraft.
- Perform essential component change outs such as servo pumps, filters, and engine components.
- Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests.
- Prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
- Ensure that all equipment is used in accordance with established safety and operating procedures.
- Diagnose and correct malfunctions occurring in assembly processes.
- Use precision measuring instruments, gauges, and tools to check dimensions and conformance to quality requirements.
- Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work.
- Work various shifts and/or an alternate baseline schedule that may frequently change to support mission requirements and may include weekends and holidays.
- Perform both scheduled and unscheduled overtime as required by mission requirements and workload.
Essential Skills- 4+ years of on-aircraft general maintenance experience.
- Experience in Depot Level/Heavy General maintenance.
- Experience with various aircraft exterior and interior systems such as hydraulic, flight control, monuments, landing gears, fuel systems, and engines.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and retrofit requirements.
- Experience preserving aircraft structure, sealing, and shimming.
- Proficient in computer skills including aircraft-related systems and basic office software.
- Ability to obtain customer approval for aircraft access, which may be precluded by dual citizenship or prior citizenship of any other country.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- FAA A&P License or Military Technical School equivalent.
- Experience performing aircraft engine runs and engine borescope inspections.
- Ability to operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment.
- Knowledgeable in shop mathematics and practices.
- Experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures.

Work Environment
The work environment involves exposure to noise, working on elevated platforms, and using personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hands, and arms. Candidates must be able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds. Frequent walking, standing, balancing, climbing, and reaching overhead are required. Occasional finger manipulation and contact with metals are expected. Candidates must pass visual acuity and color perception tests, and handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials appropriately. Variable shifts based on business needs, including weekends and holidays, are required. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
